Mr. Cornwell, I want to thank you for all the entertaining and educationally informative books you have written. Going from practically no interest in historical events to becoming an avid consumer of information on European history. I even went out and read a book on both Wellington and Boneparte. You are one of the few authors that I read the books more than once; at least the Sharpe books I did. Thank you again, ...I look forward to your next publication. Henry Stuart

Q

Bernard, Thank you very much for your novels. So far I have read 6 of the Sharpe books and thoroughly enjoyed each one. I have also introduced my Dad to them and he is now also addicted. Being Australian we love the fact that Sharpe is not an aristocrat and he rises through the ranks. We also enjoy reading about how these armies and regular people operated on a day to day level. It is fascinating and educational. For me personally the Sharpe character really appeals to me, not simply for his courage and fighting ability but for his brutality, ruthlessness and especially his self doubt. Having characters that are not "perfect supermen" who are good at everything is refreshing and realistic. Thanks for the entertainment. kind regards, Micah Clark

Q

Dear Mr Cornwell I have read the Grail quest books and have almost finished the Arthur book. Im a great fan of history and I find your books so beautifully fitting within the history as we know it. I also, to my great delight, found that you have written many books. So I can say to you that I really look forward to the coming years for they will be filled with the reading of your books. There is one swedish author that writes in similar ways. His name is Jan Guillou, I don't know if you read his books but... Specially his book about Arn, the hit the stores about three years ago I think. But thank you very much for your great work. It is not often I have found an author that I love reading so much. Sincerely, not since I found Tolkien some 18 years ago. greatful Michael Wermelin, Sweden

A

I don't know Jan Guillou's book, but I'll look for it - thank you.

Read in F.A.Q. that you may write another Rider Sandman novel. I hope you do. Loved the novel for itself. But also have loved the period, which you capture beautifully, ever since grad school days. Thank you for the great pains you take in writing credible and compelling historical fiction. Tom Hinchcliffe

Q

I recently purchased Sharpe's Tiger and Sharpe's Devil audio books read by Sean Bean. It was so wonderful to hear Your story read by His voice (Sean - Sharpe). Do you have any pull/clout to convince Sean to do a few more? (wishful thinking, but one can always hope). Donna

A

No clout at all, but if I see him, I'll ask!

Q

Well I'm hooked now. I started with Sharpe's Trafalgar and had to read Sharpe's Prey right after. Believe it or not I loved the story of Sharpe and Lady Grace. I was very shocked that you killed her off in Sharpe's Prey. I thought it would make a very good story for Sharpe to have an aristocratic wife. I didn't know that you had written Sharpe on pennisula fighting the French before you wrote Sharpe's Trafalgar. Even though I am disappointed, (I don't know why a fighting man can't have a mate that would be equal to him in bravery) I am hooked on the series and am plowing my way through all the books. What a wonderful, straight forward character you've created. Betty

A

I was sorry to see Lady Grace go as well. I guess it's the price I pay (or Sharpe pays) for writing the books out of order. (You haven't met Teresa yet?)

Q

Mr. Cornwell, you could write more Aurthur tales if you would please. I had an incredible sadness when I finished them. Jeremy Phillipe

Are there going to be any more books about Arthur? David Black

A

I won't write more Arthur books as I feel the story is done. But I am glad to know you enjoyed the books.

Q

I'm a big fan of the Sharpe series, but a even bigger one of the Starbuck Chronicles. Just wanted to try and encourage you bring Nate back from vacation. Regardless, thank you for many hours of pleasurable reading and lot's of interesting military history. Randy Pickard

Q

dear sir, I'd just like to pass on my gratitude for your writing the Arthur books. I'm not the best reader in the world, maybe 2 or 3 books a year but after a difficult start I couldn't put 'kThe kWinter King' down (nearly got caught reading it at work, in work time, a couple of times!). I'm now half way through 'Excalibur' and I'm enjoying it very much, but a bit saddened to know that I've nealy finished the trilogy. So with that in mind, I've bought 'Harlequin' hoping this trilogy will catch me the same. Anyway, thanks for listening and I hope to read many more of your books in the future. yours sincerely S. Marsland

Q

Bernard, I felt compelled to drop you an email to thank you for the enjoyment the books you have written have given me, I am not and have never been a big reader (I am sorry to say) but do like to read a book while relaxing on holiday or a trip. I have read the whole of the kSharpe series and have waited each time for the new books to arrive in the stores, I recently finished both the Starbuck series and the Grail Quest books which I am happy to say took my attention away from the TV!, I await the next books and I am sure that they will bring me the same pleasure, thank you for your work thus far and for getting me to reach for a book and not a remote control.
