I always enjoy your books. I have read all of the Sharpe novels, and as many of the others that I can lay my hands on.

I have worked backstage for more than forty years.  When I got to Tom and Percy lighting the candles for the opening light cue of A Midsummer's Night Dream in Fools and Mortals, I almost wept. Thank you so much for writing this book.

HI BERNARD,

WE'VE HAD REPORTS HERE IN THE BRITISH PRESS ABOUT THE DISCOVERY OF THE'LOST' VIKING ARMY DESCIBED IN THE ANGLO SAXON CHRONICLE  AS A 'GREAT VIKING HORDE'-THE ENTRY BEIG MADE IN 866AD.IT TRANSPIRES THIIS WAS THE ARMY LED BY GUTHRUM AND ULTIMATELY DEFEATED BY ALFRED THE GREAT AT EDINGTON.APPARENTLY THE REMAINS OF SOME 250 PEOPLE WERE DISCOVERED AT REPTON IN DERBYSHIRE IN THE 1980'S.NOW DUE TO ADVANCES IN CARBON DATING AND OTHER TOOLS IT CAN BE PROVEN THEY ALL DATE FROM THE SAME TIME.

I LOVE THE WAY YOU WEAVE YOUR MAIN FICTIONAL CHARACTERS INTO HISTORY USING OUR EXCELLENT WRITING SKILLS BACKED UP BY YOUR EXTENSIVE RESEARCH.IT'S REALLY AMAZING THAT WHILST YOUR STORIES ARE MEANT TO ENTERTAIN THEY CAN ALSO EVOLVE FURTHER AS NEW ARCHAEOLOGY FINDS ARE MADE.

THOUGHT YOU MIGHT BE INTERESTED-SO THANKS AGAIN FOR ALL THE READING PLEASURE

BEST WISHES

KEITH

Thanks you for a lovely and welcome BBC radio 3 program  this Sunday Feb.11th (http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b09r3qhz).   I enjoyed your selection and history.  I vaguely recall you, but have never read any of your books. Maybe I will.  Your photo on Wikipedia looked much like my late husband who has just died.   He was never without his pipe, so beware!!  Best wishes and keep well and happy.

So sorry for your loss.

Mr Cornwell,

I have never written to an author, artist, actor or anyone else of any 'fame', though there are many authors whose work I have enjoyed and followed over the decades.  I am writing now because I have just finished another wonderful novel, The Flame Bearer, and feel compelled to thank you for all of the hours of enjoyment your writing has given me.  A bad day can be turned around in a heartbeat by immersing myself in one of your many great books; a good day can be made even better by simply turning a page and escaping into one of the many stories you have crafted.  So, thank you so much for all of the great reading, the opportunities to escape to another time and place and the sneaky history lessons that engage and entertain me.  Live a long time Mr Cornwell, a lot of us need you on our bookshelves.

What a sad night.....when I finish Sharpe's Devil and I come to the end of the series. I never thought I would like a character more than Uthred but I do; with his sardonic smile. I have learned so many words reading these books!  So  I have read all  Saxon Chrinicles and Sharpe series, 1352 and Sea Lord. I have your book on Waterloo but  I also purchased the Warlord Chronicles in Hardback - why not - treat yourself Andy! You have a special gift sir; what other enjoyment costs pennies and last hours than reading a good book. I mourn for Richard and Patrick who I shall miss.....I look forward to meeting more. (I sit thinking was the Lord John Ravendale killed by peasants at Waterloo a descendant of the guy in Sea Lord.....and then I remember....it is just a story!) Many many m,any thanks. You are a genius. I and thousands more are indebted, you have dispensed joy - a rare gift!

Q

I am an avid reader of the Saxon Chronicle series (sorry, like this name better than the "last kingdom") and I can't tell you how excited I am for the 11th book.

I've read almost all of your books, and though Richard Sharpe ranks very, very high, Uhtred's character and his stories are simply great reads.

THANK YOU!

Q

Hi Mr. Cornwell.

My name is Matheus and i'm from Brasil, my writting isn't good, so i'm going to be brief.

I started read your books in 2013, The last kingdom was the first one and since then i became a huge fan. Well, about the characters I have a few words. Derfel is my favorite, his loyalty and character make my eyes shine, his story is remarkable in a memorable time. About Uhtred... I'm a catholic, so sometimes i want to argue with him, but at the end of the day he is a good man, i also like him very much, he is very funny (you writes of course). Sharpe can be womanizer sometimes, but i like him also, he can be violent very quickly, but also merciful. Thomas was a character that i did not enjoy, maybe i couldn't understand him, I'm going to try read that trilogy again.

At last the main plot. I'm already a graduate in Law, but i don't like it and now i'm studying  History and my line of interest is with excitation the medieval England, i'm not sure yet, but probably my theme will be Richard I and the Plantagenet Dynasty, I just want thank you to all inspiration and distraction that lead me to another time. Thank you sir and good day.

Best of luck to you!

Q

Hello Mr Cornwell.

I just want to say how great your stories of Uthred are. I started by watching the TV series but got a hint from my cousin in America to read the books, they are so much better, she said. And they are! I have eight of them and now reading Death of Kings. Also ordered #9 &10, they are not available in Norwegian translation before March 1st but I can already feel the thrill. 1356 and Agincourt waiting to be read as well. Will go on The Arthur books later, and I understand 1356 is  part of a trilogy... So much reading ahead! Thank you for your excellent work and keep on for many years to come.

I wanted you to know how sincerely I have appreciated your work.  Many hours seemed like minutes deep into your stories.  Enjoying the story, and learning as well. As I have said before,  we, want, more !  Thank YOU.

C. S. Forester is dead.

George MacDonald Fraser is dead.

You are alive.  Let's keep it that way.  Oh and you forgot to work a real battle scene into Fools and Mortals.  Fencing on stage doesn't count.

I'm 69 - please don't die before me
