Dear Mr. Cornwell - This is a note to say, simply: thank you.
About 3 years ago, I wanted to make an intentional effort at reading more and build a strong reading habit. After a couple good books, I was enjoying reading but still not absorbed in it. Then, I stumbled across The Winter King. It was the book that made me fall in love with books, in general. After that, I read a lot of books and found myself enjoying reading in a way I hadn't before.
Then, about 2 years ago, I wanted to revisit the trilogy and see where the story went. I read Enemy of God which is now my favorite book I have ever read. Finally, this past year, I finished the journey with Excalibur, which I could not put down - I had my Kindle open over breakfast, at the office, standing around waiting for the train…
I realized, when I finished, that no work of art has sparked joy for me the way The Warlord Chronicles did. I asked Santa (a.k.a. my wife) for a hardcopy of the trilogy because I so desperately wanted to hold those books. Thankfully, they arrived just after Christmas. I was so moved. I think she was surprised at how emotional I was in opening that present, and I'll tell her what I told you: I did not know it was possible for someone to love a piece of art as much as I love your Warlord Chronicles.
These books gave me something I didn't know I could have. They are beautiful, powerful, and enthralling beyond words. I cannot wait to read them again and again. And I cannot thank you enough for having given these books to the world.
If it's still a possibility, I'd love to mail you one for an autograph! It would mean so much. But of course no worries either way. At the very least, I simply wanted to express my gratitude and tell you that your words were among the most incredible things I have come across in my life.
Thank you, thank you, thank you.

I absolutely love your work. Fell in love with The Last Kingdom series first and now am about to start The Grail Quest series. I just wanted to simply say thank you for sharing your gift of story telling with us. I saw in one of your books that you spend a lot of time in Charleston SC. That’s one of my favorite places in the world and try to get there at least once yearly in order to spend time in the historic district. Hope to see you at a book signing some day! Until then, know that your work is greatly appreciated.

Love your historical fiction! Vikings did probably use horns on helmets to provide critical protection of their shoulder muscles. The overhead blows from adversaries made such light but tough horns very functional. The devilish horns also gave a psychological edge. (Contrary to your statements at the end of “The Last Kingdom”)

The Sharpe series is being g run on ITV4. Great to watch them again. Make sure your agent gets your royalties.
Please keep on writing.

Hi Bernard
I’d just like to let you know that I’ve binge watched The Winter King on ITVX. I’ve downloaded all 3 books from iBooks and halfway through the first book. Noticing the differences between tv and the book. Thank you for making me pick up a book for the first time in over 10 years.

Good evening Mr Cornwell,
Just want to say thank you for all the many hours I have enjoyed reading/listening your books. You really helped ignite a strong desire to consume as much English history as possible. I really appreciated your forwards in Michael Livingston’s recent books as well.
Very Respectfully,
Ryan
Just wanted to let you know I just finished "Uhtred's Feast". Recently I had my DNA tested and I had 23% Scotch/Irish/English. Then I found out there was 13% Scandinavian blood. I was floored, but now I know where that came from... After reading your books and watching the Netflix series, it was enough to make my (possibly) 13% Viking blood very proud. Thank you.

p.s. - I love your "Sharpe" series.
Greeting Mr. Cornwell,
I hope this email finds you well.
The purpose of this email is to say that I enjoy reading your book. So far, I've only read Sharpe's escape but nevertheless, I enjoyed the read. I hope you are blessed with good health and prosperity.

Dear Bernard,
I would just like to express my deep gratitude for the inspiration your books have given me over the years. Not only have I enjoyed them, but because they are my favourite books ever, I have tried to learn how to write from them. My own first historical novel was published the day before yesterday and although it is set in the Hittite Empire, over the hills and far away from your settings, it would not have been possible without your example. I'd send you a copy, but unfortunately it's only available in German.
All the best for you
Sebastian
Best of luck with your book!
I thought I would drop a line to say: I like your books. I listened to the audiobook versions of much of the Sharpe series while feeding a new baby overnight right after she was born. It is awfully annoying to have to wake up in the middle of the night to feed a baby a bottle--unless you get to plug in the headphones and disappear off to Portugal or Spain while rocking the child back to sleep. I really enjoyed them, so thank you for writing them; it is a great accomplishment to have written so many, with the quality so high.
