I'm bitterly disappointed with the BBC series. Wikipedia said it was "loosely based" on the books, but they even managed to turn Uhtred into a weinie. So sorry they did this to those magnificent books. That's all I have to say.

Dear Mr. Cornwell,

At the beginning of the New Year wishes are possible. So for me after finishing the Starbucks Chronicles the wish for next move of Nate Starbuck is always there; probably because of the discussions in the States and elsewhere. From the historical prospective it should be a success. But from the narrative point of view I don’t know – regarding the huge development in expression proses of writing between “Redcoat” and “The Fort” for me should be a new single book probable the right wish for the future and great pleasure to receive a vision about something completely new and different… Who knows?

In any case reading your books is for me dreaming in parallel and this is still possible in the 21st Century. Many, many thanks for that!

Yours,

Erik Evtimov, Berne (CH)

Thank you for this marvelous series and you are a wonderful writer: everything flows and keeps me attracted to the books.  You keep me reaching for references i.e. parts of a ship, loading a musket etc.  You have provided many anxious moments for a grandma engrossed in these stories but saved the young man/men in every instance.  My grandson just graduated Navy boot camp and I am sending him Sharpe"s Trafalgar.  My son is in the army and sent him Sharpe's Tiger.

Bernard,

I heard you recently on the BBC podcast promoting your new Shakespeare book.  We won't get it until January, but I'm very excited for it.  I just wanted to reach out to say that I cannot wait for this book.  And also what a joy it was to read "The Flame Bearer".  It was so satisfying to finally get to see Uhtred get back Bebbanburg, though I doubt those adventures are finished (he might even lose it again for a while, I'll wait to see).

I just wanted to reach out to say hi, and thank you again for my signed copy of "Agincourt", I am a true fan of Uhtred, and especially Derfl from the Arthur trilogy.  I will pre-order "Fools and Mortals" and remain a loyal reader.  I love how researched your pieces are even if you do "throw away 95% of it."

Thank you,

Raven Peters

Your stories have changed my life....

Perhaps my subject comes off a bit generic or strong, but it’s true. Mr. Cornwell I’m a huge fan of your work. I’ve been reading you for years, I know I can pick up one of your books and I’ll be in the middle of one of history’s greatest moments. My favorite book is The Fort! I love it, and I read it every year. You’ve inspired me in way you can’t possibly imagine. I wish you all the good will I can muster, and I hope to hear from you soon.

Thank you!  I am glad to know how much you enjoy my books.

I have just finished Sharpe's Revenge. I did not see the relationship and the child coming nor Jane's betrayal. I was spellbound by the story. I feel like a fat kid in a bakery with a just two buns left - so sad to be coming to the end. I never thought I would have met such a character as Uthred but when my friend who introduced me to your books said: "You will like Sharpe more...." Never! He is right. I like Sharpe, Hawkeswill, Ducos, Harper, Fredrickson (even if he is named after a Vicar and I be one of your beloved Evangelical Pastors  - thanks for the mention in Siege of Evangelicals by the way!) and all the other characters. I don't know if these emails ever get to you but you have given me literally hundreds of hours of deep enjoyment as I have devoured each book; you have a rare gift; thank you for sharing it!

Andy

Dear Bernard

I would just like to say thank you for your fantastic series of books about the Last Kingdom - they have really helped me to get through a very difficult time in my life where I was made redundant and I have been able to "escape" into another world since the Summer.  I have often picked up each book each day and really found it to help me relax and get into reading in general (unusual for me).

I have asked for a new series of your books for Christmas and hope to enjoy more in the new year!

Yours sincerely
