Hi,

I have now finished Uhtred up to The Pagan Lord.....they have all been good BUT the end of The  Pagan Lord REALLY impressed me....from the emotional (and surprising)  return of Judas .....Uhtredson's intense first shield wall....the predictable (but necessary) exciting duel....and the innovative semi conscious discussion.

This part of the book was extremely gripping....undoubtedly the best Uhtred to date IMHO

Dear Mr Cornwell

I listened to the interview with Danish Snow and was moved by your ever present excitement for writing. I am retired Paratrooper 31 years and was introduced to Sharpe by a mate way back was immediately hooked on your work which always related so well with my own experiences not so much battle I suppose just the daily routine, small teams of mates within the machine working together. I now work full time as an artist currently in India for 3 months volunteering, teaching drawing and painting on behalf of the Royal drawing school to some great young adults just north of Delhi in an art school. Can be a little lonely even for me and listening to your humour on the podcast was very comforting thankyou. Would love to share a whisky with you some day

best wishes

Doug

Thank you!

“………I thought Sean was the ideal Sharpe. I’m not saying no one else could play him, but Sean will always be ‘my’ Sharpe!”

In response to your comments above, please forgive me.   I know the Sharpe you created would most likely have a London accent but every time I pick up a Sharpe book, which I am guaranteed to do on either annual or bi-annual basis, I hear Sean Bean and Daragh O'Malley speaking every time Sharpe and Harper speak in your books.

Q

Dear Mr Cornwell,

I have now read almost everything you have published and throghly enjoyed them all. That being said it is time to invest some time in finishing the Starbuck chronicles. I know why he was put on the proverbial back burner but the time as they say has come to bring him out into the light. I nay  we are not getting any younger.  Please invest some of your very valuable time and energy in bringing Mr Starbuck back.

Yours

Shannon MacDonald

Have just finished your last in this marvelous series. To quote "Utred might think, that his story is also unfinished." and I have hope that it shall continue. It must be fun to use your family name in this series as you are related by Sire name.

Best wishes to you and yours,

Jorie

Q

Hello, Mr. Cornwell!

My name is Levi, and I'm from a small Brazilian city.

At the beginning of this message I apologize, because I do not have much confidence in my English and I ended up using an online translator, so this message is subject to some errors.

The purpose of this message is probably the same as the countless others that you often receive, but I was still forced to send it. I'll tell you a little about myself, I'll try not to go too long.

Since I was a child I always hated reading, and when I had access to the literature available at school, this hatred only increased (I thought it was very annoying). I have always loved cinema, which over time has also distanced me from reading. Many people have always told me about the benefits of reading, but I have always thought that it would never be something that would relate to me.

At the university I had problems, because I did not feel like reading the bibliographical references, which also left me very unmotivated about the course.

Until one day a teacher of mine ended up forgetting a book in a classroom, and asked me to keep it until the following week when we would meet again. The book was The Winter King.

I do not know why, but I decided to read it, and I just could not stop. At times I would leave the reading, but always came back to it. After finishing, I saw that it was a trilogy, and asked if my teacher owned the other two. He said no. So I had to resort to alternative ways to get the books, if you understand me (I'm sorry, but I do not have the money to buy them).

After finishing The Warlord Chronicles, I started reading The Saxon Stories, and again, I can’t stop reading, even when I have my eyes aching for reading on the computer screen. I do not know what kind of magic you use, but it's one of the best.

Anyway, I want to thank you deeply for changing something in me, something that I honestly thought would never be changed. Someday I'll have your books, and they'll probably become some of the most precious things I'll ever have.

A short anecdote:

I was convinced by my wife to finally give Game of Thrones a chance...I did - and I ended up loving it. To fill the void waiting for the next season... I then 'binge-watched'  Vikings...then to fill the void waiting for that next season... I binge-watched THE LAST KINGDOM.

Now,  as I wait for the next seasons of all of these... I watched a number of documentaries based on these historical times (I'm now obsessed)...but it wasn't enough. I then decided to look for a fictional book based somewhat on historical events...I picked out THE EMPTY THRONE purely based on the picture of the cover...read it quicker than I have ever read a book. I have only ever did that once before in my life (when I was 15 years old) picked a book by the title and cover...it was THE WINTER KING and remember enjoying it 19 years ago.

I never made the connection of these 2 books - until I finished THE EMPTY THRONE recently and saw the other titles of your books, to my surprise - you are THE WINTER KING author too!

It was almost a weird elongated fate...I have now made it goal to read ALL your work.

I have never really been an avid reader, I have now changed!!! So for that, I thank you.

Many kind regards,

Just Harreman
