Most of what I read, sadly, takes effort. I'm trying to improve on my choices. Your stories are the exception -- probably because I pick up a bit of knowledge as I read---just enough to make the tale sound real, while assuaging my self-imposed duty not to read solely for entertainment.

I saw you in York (I was the guy who asked about getting boys to read). I've been researching my family tree especially my grandfathers line, Seward. it's looking like I'm descended from Earl Siward, who was married to Ælfflæd, the daughter of Ealdred, Earl of Bamburgh, who was of course the son of Uhtred.

Really like the Last Kingdom series. And one of the things that makes me smile is the parts when Uhtred looks back over his life. Because if Uhtred (son of Uhtred) has himself a son called Uhtred, then I don't know who is doing the looking back ....

Hello Bernard
I have been given the set of the Sharpe books and I find it very difficult to put a book down once I start reading it. I would like to congratulate you on your writing skills and story telling.
I feel as if I have personally met Sharpe and have a vested interest in whatever he does. He is a very strong character and the respect that you have given him seems to rub of in the people that he associates with.
I am grateful that I have been given the chance to read your books because I feel that I get drawn into whatever plot Sharpe and his men are involved in.
I am currently reading Sharpe's Enemy and have only got six books to finish.
Thank you so much.
Patricia
Mr. Cornwell,
I have really been enjoying your work over the years. It all started when a friend told me about the grail series... continued with Sharpe, the Arthur series, and then Uhtred of Bebbanburg stumbled onto the scene and into our hearts! Such an amazing story! and so crafted by a master of story telling!
Thanks so much for the enjoyable time spent with your works in my hand... although you ARE responsible for several nights spent reading way too late, because I was unable to break the spell of your tales!

Amazon sent my copy to the USA on Thursday. Tried hard not to read it all in one session, but couldn't put it down. A very satisfying read. Finished it Saturday night. Marvelous action as usual. It will join the rest of your books in a dedicated bookcase. I almost have them all hardbound first editions, except for Sharpe's Gold, and I had to settle for paperback!
Many thanks. We enjoyed the Last Kingdom TV series too.
All the best,
Barry Anderson
My name is Marcela Antochio, I'm 29 years old, I am Brazilian and I met you when I was still in college in 2008. The first book I read was The Winter King of King Arthur trilogy. I do not know how to express all my appreciation and thanks to the universe that his books carry me. His way of writing, attention to detail and emotion that moves in every word, every line written. Thank you for making my full days!
Dear Mr. Cornwell,
I quite accidentally stumbled upon your books when looking for a new author to read and have never been disappointed by your stories. I was a history major in college and found myself drawn to a number of historical fiction writers, reading many of your colleagues' stories before finding your Last Kingdom Series. I am extremely grateful I did find it because I find the character of Uhtred to be incredibly engaging, dynamic and nuanced. I look forward to every publication and have even gone so far as to order from the U.K. when I have not wanted to wait for the U.S. publication date. In closing, thank you again for providing me with hours upon hours of enjoyment. I wish you nothing but the best in life and look forward to reading the entirety of all your series.
Sincerely,
Adam Dolan
Hello, Mr. Cornwell.
First of all, I'd like to apoligize if I'm not adressing you properly, not really a native english speaker. Either way, me and some of my friends wanted to thank you, you had a massive influence in our development as professionals, I'm beggining my career as a game story writer almost solely based on the beauty of your story telling, and many similar stories can be told by my friends.
Thank you a lot, your writing is wonderful and inspiring!

Wellington Lecture -
With the usual crush at the end of such a lecture I didn't get an opportunity to personally thank you. I feel compelled to send a heartfelt thankyou for the lecture you gave last night. I read the Sharpe books as they were first released into my local library (I am 47 now so was quite young at the time!) and, unique to any other book I have ever read, have reread the entire series at least twice. I was really looking forward to hear you talk and I thought that it was a fantastic event and so wasn't disappointed.
Kind regards,
Andrew Whitehead
Glad you enjoyed it!
