Q

Mr Cornwell,

I am just reading your "Empty Throne" novel and as always enjoying the saga of Uhtred.

I decided to write, firstly to thank you for the enjoyment from the Uhtred novels but also regarding the name. It was interesting to see on page 1 the range of spellings which reminded me of the chapter on the origins of the Ogle name in the 1904 book "Ogle and Bothel". It occurred to me you might find the Ogle book interesting.

Q

Hello Mr. Cornwall!

Our family have recently found "The Last Kingdom" on Netflix. We are enjoying the series however we are so glad we have read the books. We understand that thee is no way all the detail could be included in a TV series.

We urge folks to read the books as well as we enjoyed the books so much more! 😊

Q

I have no questions or inquiries.  I simply wanted to say how great it has been reading the Sharpe series (and 1356).  I'm currently wrapping up Sharpe's Fortress and I cannot put these books down.  They have certainly reinvigorated my literary appetite.  Thank you very much.

Cheers.

Mike

Q

Mr. Cornwell,

I just wanted to take the time to let you know how much I enjoy your novels.  I have never written a letter to an author before or really to anyone before like this.  I am nearing the end of The Empty Throne, and for some reason needed to tell you how much enjoyment I have had reading all of your books.  I have read the Sharp series completely, the Saxon Tales are my favorite however.  It's hard for me to read fiction as I love the reality of non-fiction history books, but your historical fiction is exactly the subject matter that keeps me engrossed and I usually finish your novels in 2 or 3 days.  I spent many nights in Iraq when I was in the Army, pouring over Sharpe's deeds and they did wonders to keep my mind off the troubles of deployment.  My apologies that my only way to thank you is this email, but please keep writing I am a life long fan.  I wish you the best in life.

Cheers,

Nick

Thank you for your kind message Nick.  But more importantly, thank you for your service.

Q

I am a huge fan of the history channel show Vikings...I decided to look up some books as I am an avid reader and I can't begin to tell you how thrilled I am to be reading your saxon tales..

You are truly amazing..

Thanks Mike Imparato

Q

When you've read the same author for a long time sometimes you get bored but  I just love the Viking and Archer books and cannot wait for the next ones to come out. Thank you for the enjoyment you provide

Q

Hello Mr. Cornwell,

I am sure you receive a lot of fan mail and I really don't have anything memorable or special to say. However, I studied history in college, am an avid fan of history, and I want to say that I am a huge fan of your books. Historical fiction is not an easy category to master but I believe you have. I have read most of your books - all of the Sharpe, Arthur, Uhtred series, and am finishing up the Grail series. I feel very strongly that the Grail series should be made into a series of movies but alas I have no influence with or connections to show business.

And I am a very big fan despite being a lawyer, not the most popular trade in your books. Of course, I take no offense because I have worked with them.

Anyway, I will end this rambling fan mail by stating thank you. I really enjoy your books and am sad that sooner than later I will be done reading them.

John

Q

I discovered your books when I read Agincourt.  I like to read history and decided to take a break from pure history.  I had heard vaguely about Agincourt and was reminded about it again in a Winston Churchill book.  I am so glad I did.  Agincourt was a memorable reading experience for me and I wanted to thank you for that experience.

Q

Æ vanished? Shirley you jest?

The letter Æ is alive and well in the land of the Danes.

Having just read The Last Kingdom, I'm happy to discover that there are a lot more in the series. Looking forward to reading them.

Best regards

Mikael
