Q

Let me start by saying I have read all of the books and really enjoyed the richly developed characters in all of them. I have also read and enjoyed the Starbuck Chronicles, the Grail Quest, and some of the Sharpe books.

Last night I started watching the TV series on Netflix. After the first episode  I could not believe it had anything to do with your books. Everything has been butchered, dumbed down to a mere shadow. It looks like a vehicle for more viking hairstyles and costumes. Nothing like the books I have enjoyed so much. I have so far watched 3 episodes and it has not improved.

Can you take over writing the screenplay? Please?

Q

Mr Cornwell,

I came across the Saxon Stores almost year ago, and i loved it so much that went and found all your books and read them all. So, thank you so much for writing such wonderful series.

Just a request, if you have the opportunity can you write a short story (or a series) around Finan's character.

Thanks again

Vasu

Q

I have not written you before because I am sure you have already received much praise on the Saxon series and I felt I had nothing new or creative to add to those accolades. I was also one of the small group that thought Uhtred's tale was getting to the point that it needed to end and I didnot look forward to at least two more books to end his saga.

I am writing to tell you that I was wrong- very, very wrong. I feel that Warriors of the Storm is one of the best books in the series. It continues with character development and ties in old plot lines so well that I was torn between wanting to finish it and not wanting it to end. Thank you so much for the entertaining story.

Q

Dear Mr Cornwell,

I am an avid reader of historical fiction (and fact ) and over many years I have read most of your books.

The Uhtred sagas have particularly given me great pleasure and having recently finished your latest book above I felt I should thank for this. As a native born Cestrian ( born and raised in the county of Cheshire and sincere apologies if you knew this  ) this book was particularly enjoyable.

It is hard ,however, to think of modern day Runcorn and Widnes as Viking settlements !

However my favourite book was your  book on the Waterloo campaign ,which obviously co-incided with the 200th anniversary of the battle , but really explained the significance of the battles that immediately preceded Waterloo and the importance of the Prussians marching to the sound of the guns on the final day No other book about Waterloo has been as well researched and written as yours and I have recommended it to a number of friends, who share my passion for history, and they agree.

I therefore eagerly await Uhtred's next story and thank you once again,

Philip Barber.

Q

Mr. Cornwell, I must say that I am in love with your Uhtred character in the saxon series. I love the way you develop the individual personalities. It really comes through in your writing. I look forward to the next book in the series and the day that Uhtred takes back Bebenburg, which I suspect will eventually happen. I understand you do not have any say in the television show on BBC, however I must say I was very disappointed! It felt rushed. Some of the characters were left out. Many of the story lines were forgotten or changed. They definitely did not do it justice. I read somewhere that the television series was to include books 1 and 2. This was interesting to me because if that is the case, I felt like they left the entire book 2 out of the equation and only used the first and last chapter. It was a bummer for sure. I had high hopes in seeing your words to come life on the screen. Anyway, Uhtred lives in my head! Thank you for hours of reading pleasure.

Q

Warriors of the Storm - Too short!! Or I read too fast!! I thought it was the best in the series so far, not a dull moment. Thank you for such an incredibly entertaining series, and for great writing.

Sincerely, and looking forward to the next one,

MSD

Q

Dear Mr Cornwell,

I have been an avid reader of non-fiction history and historical fiction all my life, having listened to my father's World War Two anecdotes since I was too young to remember! Over the years I have read (I think) every Sharpe novel that you wrote and more recently devoured the Last Kingdom series. When I finished them it was as though I'd finished an epic journey or lost a very good friend! I'm simply writing to express my gratitude for your craft. I not only enjoy the enthral lint tales but appreciate the quality of writing you produce. Every time I finish a series you have written I search for works of a similar nature in similar topics, usually finding myself disappointed at the comparison and having to read non-fiction items to assuage my interest.

It seems somewhat sycophantic to say that your works are unsurpassed, but if they are, I'm yet to find one! I'm pleased that I left the Starbucks Chronicles until now to read, as I can look forward to some measure of pleasure between Warriors of the Storm and Uhtred's next adventure.

If you get the time and urge to reply to this, I would be delighted and more than pleasantly surprised, you must surely get plenty of these emails. If you don't,I won't be upset and refuse to read another word of yours. I know that your life must be full of researching, creative writing, re writing and answering countless emails. Suffice to say you've made my life a richer and more informed one with your magnificent creations.

Thank you.

Q

Dear Mr Cornwell,

I've just had to contact you to tell you how much I have enjoyed your writing over the years.

I've read all your books and am currently half way thro reading "Warriors Of The Storm". It's brilliant, I can't put the book down.

Untried is my favourite character. He is the one I would love to witness as a'fly on the wall'. If you know what I mean.

Thank you so much for providing me with such a fantastic reading experience.

Kind regards,

Peter Jackson

Q

Dear Mr. CORNWELL (almost spelt right)

I have just finished "warriors of the storm" and  I was not disappointed,I couldn't put it down. I love historical fiction and I  don't know who is the better writer you or Jack Whyte. You both bring me into the story and make me feel I know the characters personally. Thanks for many hours of wonderful reading.
