Dear Bernard Cornwell

I have to thank you for the wonderful books you write. I have never had any real interest in history, but since discovering your books 5/6 years ago I have developed a great interest in the history of my country,England. I am at the moment reading The Empty Throne. Life would be so dull without books and music.

Sincerely

Garnett (born in Kings Lynn Norfolk,now living in Phuket,Thailand}

Sir:

Just a word to say that I have read many of the Sharpe adventures and most of the Warrior chronicles with great enjoyment and profit. I am looking forward to finding one of yours I may have missed. I also note coincidentally that one of my early ancestors came from Cornwall and shipwrecked on Cape Cod about 1690--at Truro. Four others were on the Mayflower in 1620. My date of birth is 23 Feb 1944. Quite a few of my English ancestors were knights. I have also authored or co-authored nine history books--mostly about the Civil War (1861-65). While I am not a mystic, maybe there is some genetic reason I find your UK adventures most interesting. Anyway, best wishes for your future work and for another (American) Thanksgiving.

Q

Can you believe it? I am 63 years old and just now - at the behest of my wife - started reading the Sharpe series for the first time. You needn't write me back; I know how busy you are. But I just wanted to tell you how absorbing and exciting I am finding "Sharpe's Tiger," and how much I am looking forward to reading more in the series. You write historical fiction the way it SHOULD be written, and for that, I thank you.

I am not known as a fast reader but since being hooked on the Last Kingdom series I have read the lot.

brilliant and I like the TV series too.

Q

Dear Mr. Cornwell,

Just finished "1356".  Most interesting.  And, for fun, Shellabarger's "The King's Cavalier"

Different ways of looking at things.

I also found Forester's "The Gun" and "Rifleman Dodd".  He did true third person narratives, occasionally judging from a distance.  As he said, the subtlest minds had spend decades figuring out how to make a great soldier.  But if they country had spent half as much to make him a good citizen....but they probably wouldn't.

I keep trying to write. I keep coming out like John D. MacDonald, which is not bad, but..  Travis McGee's been done.

I look forward to your next.

Q

Dear Sire Cornwell,

thank you for your great books. I am happy to pay a price for having some nice hours allow me to fall into the past. I wish Uthred can be alive the next 8 books and bring Ethelstan to his Kingdom. ;-)) I am waiting for the next book. Stay healthy.

Best regards from Germany

Andy

Q

I have the misfortune to be laid low by pesticide poisoning. I am bed ridden unable to read due to neurological damage. Though I am able to listen to audio books and have to thank you for getting me through a very difficult time. Your books have transported me to a far better place than the one I currently inhabit.

Kind regards

I hope you will recover soon!

Starbuck -

I wish when authors take their reading fans on a journey with their books that they would finish them or just never start something you can't finish.
