Q

Hi

Mr. Cornwell,First I would like to apologize for the following misspellings, I am Brazilian and I have a little trouble with the English language so I use a bit of translation engines available on the web.I would like to congratulate you for your incredible work that helped me to create a different perspective on the world. I've always been a fan of history and foreign literature, and also greatly appreciate the mythological part. And his books can join it in a unique way and wonderful. The Saxon Stories is incredibly exciting, especially the book "The Lord of the North" which is my favorite in this series. I recently read "The Empty Throne" which was translated a few months I my country, and I'm anxious for the next book. Then I started reading his books, I began to study harder the English language to be able to able to read his works in original language. For its history of life I consider you a great man and I am inspired by you. I wanted to wish you much happiness and health, for you to continue increasingly inspiring young people like me through literature.

Denis Costa.

Q

Just seen the news that the Chronicles and Alfred story will be on the BBC. Brilliant - they have been my holiday reading for goodness knows how long - I can't trust myself to read them when I'm working - they would take over my life.

I teach English. My degree in the '70s began with 'Beowulf' and a study of Anglo-Saxon as a language - and I also did Anglo-Saxon Archaeology at the same time. Thank you for your books.

I just wanted to say since I first caught your Sharpe novels on tv I have not been able to put your books down. Your books havd given me great enjoyment and I have been lost for hours whist reading them. I must admit that the last Kingdom seris is my favourite and I just want to say thank for giving me and others hours of enjoyment and I hope you keep writing for many years to come.

Q

Dear Bernard,

I am so excited that once again your work is coming up on screen. I loved the Saxon series and have `Warriors of the storm' ready to read [once I've finished Bloodline by Conn Iggulden].

Family have been thrilled hearing the tale of Uhtred from me and if the TV version of the Last kingdom is anything like the Sharpe TV series we are all in for a big treat !

Thank you so much Bernard.

Yours Sincerely

Paul Campbell

Q

After having re-read the entire Sharpe's series, I decided to come back around to see if you'd been up to your trade - and there it is. New "Last Kingdom" addition. I'm so happy I don't even care that I have to wait longer for us Americans to get our turn. The anticipation will sustain me just find.

Thank you. I guess that's the gist of it. Carry on.

Q

Dear Bernard

This is just to say how much I enjoyed Waterloo.  I read a lot of historical non-fiction, most of which is long on facts and explanations,  but short on narrative.  In my view you got the balance exactly right and turned what could have been a very dry historical treatise into an entertaining story, told extremely well.  I was surprised to see how well the narrative approach you use in your fiction works transferred across into non-fiction.

I've previously read most of your work except the Sharpe novels, which I have dipped into in places, but would like to read in historical sequence - that might have to wait until I retire.

Thanks for all your work and the pleasure it has brought me since I picked up a copy of The Last Kingdom in a station bookshop a good few years ago.   That was the start of a long and very enjoyable journey.
