Dear Sir
Thank you for providing a comprehensive book on Waterloo. Back in 81 when I was a teen and got a copy of Sharpe it started an avid interest in the Napoleonic wars. The books I was able to get contradicted each other as they were written by people to elevate their own importance in the battles of that period and seemed to miss the input of our allies.
Your work is comprehensive, well detailed and unbiased and well appreciated.
Looking at your book list I now seem up to date. Sharpe is excellent and far better than my other fictional heroes - the Sacketts by Louis L'Amour - though like him you instill History into all your writings. Your Historical notes after the Grail quest, Warrior or Sharpe series are great and add to the story.
Some more of your thrillers with the sea ever as a backdrop would be appreciated and any earlier life of Sharpe.
Thank you for providing your time to fulfil my time

Mr. Cornwell:
I've read your first four books of the Saxon Tales in less than three weeks. I love your books. You are my favorite author since Louis L'Amour whose Sackett Series enthralled me and I went on to read about 50 of his books. Very Happy I found your books to get absorbed in. Being of Germanic Heritage(Saxon/Scandanavian) makes it even more interesting as it reflects what some of my ancestors probably experienced. I also have ancestors that fought in the French Indian War and Revolutionary War and look forward to starting books like The Fort. I have to get through the Saxon Tales first - but, that won't take long. French Indian War - that would be a great topic for you to entertain for a new series!

Dear Mr. Cornwell,
I just want to thank you for hours of delightful stories. I have only finished "The Empty Throne", at 3 a.m., simply because I had to read it till the very last page. I admire the research you always do and the fact that you list specifically the names you invented along with the actual historical names and locations - this is very informative, and checking respective places on the map has always been part of the fun for me. I came by your books by accident really - sometime in the early 2000s I was looking for a holiday read and found a paperback of "Enemy of God". (Sadly, Polish translation was poor, to say the least.) At first your depiction of the Arthurian universe was a shock, it was so unorthodox, but I kept on reading and I realized two things: one, that I loved it, and two, that I really needed to get the whole trilogy in English, which I finally did. This is by far my favorite series, closely followed by Uhtred's adventures. (The process of creating one Engla(la)nd is fascinating for someone like me, who has never learnt about it in such detail at school, and I keep comparing it with what was happening in Poland at the time - I wish we had an author like you who would create such a brilliant series about our history as well - certain attempts were made, but nowhere near your level - lucky Brits!) I love the whole spectrum of characters you created - they are alive, with all their virtues and vices, whether weak, powerful, generous, funny, wise, or silly. I particularly like your descriptions of, and comments on, women (in the context of religion, men, power, social status) - privileged as we are to live in reasonably women-friendly times, the world still needs someone like you to make a statement, and for that I thank you, as it certainly makes a difference. And thank you for all the humor - whenever I feel down, I remember Merlin's recipe for a perfect cheese.
I've just found out about the BBC show and the new Uhtred book and can't wait for the fall!
Thank you again, and best greetings from Poland -
Ewa Lebiedowska (which to you must look as exotic as Culhwch or Gwenhwyvach seem to me)
Thank you!
I CAN'T WAIT !!!! JUST OVER TWO MONTHS AND I CAN DO NOTHING FOR A FEW DAYS BUT READ WARRIORS OF THE STORM. THANKYOU

Dear Mr. Cornwell,
I have never learned so much about a history I was interested in or enjoyed reading a series as much as this. I am 62 years old and haven't read for just enjoyment for over 30 years. I took a holiday and a friend convinced me that I should try the first novel. The next two were consumed by a passion to follow Thomas and learn how his world worked.
I've always been interested in history. After reading your series I'm hooked on reading to learn about things outside of my profession and I think even more so, for pleasure.
Thank you for you efforts and your books.
I wanted you to know that I visited Stonehenge several years ago. That will be my next pleasure.

ps: I am from British Columbia, Canada and although I'm confident you know you writing touches people world wide I thought I'd offer evidence .. Thanks again.
Sincerely,

Esteemed Mr. Cornwell,
I wish to begin by telling you how much I enjoy your work, and that I hope this letter finds you well and in good spirits. I am an avid reader of your stories, and have been since I was 16 and began The Archer's Tale. I have always been a reader, but it wasn't until I began The Grail Quest and Saxon Stories in high school that I realized how much joy can be gleaned from the written word.
I have endured many personal struggles over the last few years, but Thomas, Uhtred, and Derval have always been there to provide a welcome respite from the grind and tribulations of daily existence. I have pondered, for quite some time, whether to reach out and tell you all of this, but I just finished The Pagan Lord, so I suppose the inspiration is more fresh in my mind because of that fact. Wyrd bio ful aread, I suppose!
I just wanted to tell you how much of a difference your work has made in my life, and to say thank you for providing we readers with mediums to new lines of thought. You're truly a master of your craft, and I hope to be reading your stories for many years to come. With that being said, I wish you happiness, joy, and, from one sailor to another, that your departures always equal your landfalls.
Cheers,
Jarrod Clark
Thank you!
I asked my sons to give me your Waterloo book for my birthday. It is a most enjoyable read. Your maps are great, and you tell such a great story the reader can feel something of what it must have been like to have been there. Well Done!

Dear Mr.Cornwell,
I am of English birth with mixed parentage- Dad was British and my mother German. Due to a lot of reasons I live in Germany, this means of course that most of the time I am nattering away in German. Having grown up in the north of England and doing all my schools there, you can imagine that I miss the English language over here. this is were you come in.
2 years ago I got hold of my first Warrior book( in English of course) and enjoyed it immensely. I have since read all your books and wish to say that I have never enjoyed reading more.
Thank you for giving me such joy in reading your novels.
I wish you all the best and for myself I wish that you write a lot more novels.
Yours most thankfully
Harry Reinstorf
Dear Bernard
I have been an avid reader of your books and own a copy of every book you have had published.
Your historic novels are the best I have found, and are difficult to put down once you have started. Your ability to tell a tale is extraordinary, and I will always be in the queue every time a new Bernard Cornwell novel is published.
However, having spent a whopping £25.00 to buy Waterloo, I can honestly say it is the worst book you have written. It was only too easy to put down and has taken me months to complete instead of the normal days or even day.
I am not saying this to be rude, but please, please utilise your incredible talents on producing what you do best. If you wrote one a month it wouldn't be enough for me, so please don't waste that talent on something of this kind.
One of your greatest fans.
Best regards
Keith
Dear Mr. Cornwell,
I'll keep it simple - I devour your writings and find myself ever disappointed when they end all too soon. As prolific as your body of work is, it never seems to be enough. Thank you for your mastery, imagination & perhaps most importantly, your productivity! Please don't take a moment away from your craft to respond. I could never justify it.
Best wishes always.
