"Authors who writer interconnected standalone books where each book follows a different character???? I am your biggest fan. It’s you and me versus the world.."
I found this on Twitter and I thought this was something you could do to keep the rabid Last Kingdom fans from writing fanfiction and yelling "Shield Wall" at strangers.

Hi Mr Cornwell,
My name is Yohan, I am from France and I am 22 years. I am really glad to be able to send you an email. I will try my best to make as few mistakes as possible with my english !
I would like to thank you.
I am usually not a big reader and have never really been one, but the Saxon stories managed to make me love reading, and I really feel like travelling while reading your books. Uhtred's adventures are amazing, and I really feel similar with him on many points. I watched the series on Netflix, and it is actually my favorite TV show of all time, but I also like a lot discovering where things are originally from and that's why I bought 10 of your books at once ! It is very nice to discover in the books some details that sometimes aren't in the tv show.
I read the first 2, and can't wait to read more.
I was already very much into English and Scandinavian history and to be honest, your books and stories inspired me to move abroad, in Finland nowadays and most probably in England in few years. It is also funny to see that our 2 countries England and France have been fighting for centuries, and yet an English writer inspired a young French reader. I love England, its culture and history, and my mother always felt that for England as well and still nowadays. She always loved the United Kingdom and its history and she still wants to move there !
I plan to visit York and Bamburgh because obviously, the books and Tv show woke my curiosity up, and I want to know more about the history of these 2 places.
Thank you again for the great books you are writing. I hope I will meet you one day, and be able to discuss with you about the saxon stories and even discuss about life in general !
Have a safe and nice year Mr Cornwell, I wish you all the best !
Just wanted to thank you for providing me so many hours of reading enjoyment. I picked up my first Sharpe book on a trip to England in the 1980s and have been hooked ever since. As a military historian by training, while I can't say I am a big fan of historical fiction in general, I appreciate the fact that at the end of your books you put the real history in perspective. That said, I am enjoying the Saxon series, since, through no fault or effort of my own, it turns out that Grandpa Alfred is my 33rd Great Grandfather, and William I is my 26th Great Grandfather (can't understand why I never get invited to stay at the Royal residence, although I suppose the Tower would be open to me of they could catch me!). The novels give me an overall perspective of the life in the era and help put my myriad of good, and not-so-good relatives in perspective. Thanks again. Looking forward to the new Sharpe book.

Dear Mr Cornwell,
I just wanted to write and thank you for the Sharpe books. I have always been interested in history of all kinds and watched the Sharpe TV series as a child. Someone then bought me Sharpe's Tiger for my 14th birthday. From then on I read every single book in order and my love of the books far exceeded my love of the TV series. To this day (aged 33) the Sharpe books are my 'go to' holiday books and I've re-read them too many times to count. As I commute into London I re-read them on the train (Currently reading Sharpe's Battle again) and my love of these books never ceases with each read. I find the books inspiring. My copies of the books are tatty, full of crumbs between the pages from years of different lunch breaks but kept well! My favourites are Sharpe's Enemy and Sharpe's Waterloo and I cannot ignore Sharpe's Eagle, but in truth they're all brilliant reads. Can't wait for Sharpe's Command in October having read Assassin in a few days, resisting temptation to save it for a holiday!
So thank you for having such a positive impact on my life.
Kind Regards
Tom Hard
Dear Mr Bernard Cornwell,
I just wanted to say how much I love your writing.
My dad was called Bernard ( which makes me love you a bit more) and he was obsessed with history. In his case the Celts. He hated the Romans and loved stone circles. We scattered him at the Ring of Brodgar.
I came to your Saxon Stories through the wonderful Last Kingdom and then devoured the 13 books and am the Arthur trilogy now.
You have a delicious style that is so engaging: I love the first person narrative.
Anyway, you’re a shining jewel in a word where jewels need to be sought and treasured.
With best wishes
Una Fairbrother
Dear Bernard,
I’ve just finished reading Sharpe’s Assassin, and I wanted to take a moment to get in touch and thank you.
I first read your books many years ago (more than I’m prepared to admit to myself), and as a young soldier at the time the books were passed around and Sharpe’s adventures well known. While I enjoyed the characters, I really appreciated how you tied their stories in with true history, and surrounded them with well researched events and detail.
Fast forward several years (decades) and I did the unthinkable. I wrote a historical fiction novel. It was never going to be read by anyone, of course, and certainly wasn’t going to be published, but you know how these things go… 9 books later.
Before I go on too long, I’ll cut to the chase. Having read your work again decades after last picking up one of your books, I noticed how much you’ve influenced my own writing. We write very differently, and the subject matter is very different, but I certainly recognise the research, the history, and the detail that you weave into your characters’ stories. Any influence was quite unconscious, of course, especially given the delay between putting down your books and picking up my own, but maybe that’s a credit to the longevity of your style.
So, that said, thank you for the positive influence. I’ve had many experiences in my life, and achieved a lot, but very little has made me quite as happy as the books I’ve written. Oh, and thanks for Sharpe, too.
Kind Regards,
Karl Jackson
Hi,
A series of titles narrating battles fought by Patrick Lassan (Richard Sharpe's son) in Italy, Crimea, North Africa and elsewhere would be a great feat for loyal readers of Bernard Cornwell works.

Sir,
I was so glad you picked up the Sharpe Series again, but do hope you do the same with Starbuck. It kind of ended in the middle of the Civil War and I'm sure you could develop a thrilling continue of that period just as you did in your great works of Saxon Series and of course Sharpe. Then my son running out of books to buy as birthday and Christmas gifts. He started on Conn Igguldens fine series but yours are closest to my heart. Such a great combo of fiction and history. Just love them.
Keep well Sir
Claes
I watched "The Last Kingdom" first season. I really liked it. I have lots of Norse that runs in the family. So the story really intrigued me. I received The Last Kingdom, the book, as a gift. I read the book, and couldn't get enough. I have read all the books for the Saxon series, read The Fort, Agnicourt, and Redcoat. You have easily become a favorite author and I love how you write. Your knowledge about history impresses me, and how you can convey that in your writings. I love how you include the historical note at the end. Love to read how accurate your stories are. I have definitely promoted your work to others for reading recommendations. I am excited to continue to read more of your books. I love learning about history. So thank you so much for the books you've written. One day I would love to meet you and ask you so many questions. I would also love to read a history novel, you write of course, if you ever write anything on American Native Tribes. That would be an amazing adventure as you would be the author. Just a suggestions. Your work is amazing.

I wanted to also add. The books (The Saxon Series), as usual were better than the series they made (The Last Kingdom). I find that worth noting. Your attention to detail is amazing. I was disappointed in how they could ruin so many things when making the series. They are still entertaining to watch, but reading the series is even better. Thanks again.
Enjoyed your new Sharpe book after such a long respite. I know we can’t keep asking for more but alas we love Richard so well. Thanks for the treat.
Loren Coen
There will be more Sharpe!
