Dear Mr. Cornwell:
Just wanted to say that I'm enjoying reading the Saxon Stories the second time around. The first time through I was reading with a curious and critical eye since I considered myself a "well-read" Viking expert, and wanted to see how you treated MY ancestors, with all due respect to yours, the Anglo-Saxons. With the exception of the few trivial points I included in my first email some time ago, I think you've done a fine job and I'm just enjoying the stories now. I am curious how you'll deal with the period after Alfred's death when "England" did become a part of Denmark thanks to Sweyn "Forkbeard" Harldson, and Knut "The Great" Sweynson (sorry, Uhtred).

Dear Bernard,
Like so many of us, I work in an incredibly stressful environment and in the evenings I continue to work from home. I find that tv does not allow me to stop thinking over and over about work but that my one place of real escapism is your books. Whether I've been fighting Vikings, the Tippoo, or the French or even trying to figure out how to get ridiculously large stones to float, I am away living different lives. Thanks so much old fella for all of this.

Hi Bernard,
As a retired soldier (6 years British army and 6 years Australian Army) followed by 27 years as a paramedic I have had the pleasure of reading many of your books and have enjoyed all of them. The action and the fear in the combat scenes are very real as is the carnage that follows. I am an avid reader and unfortunately had not found any truly original stories for many years until I picked up Sword Song, it and all of your books brought back memories of my childhood and teenage years. Like you I have chosen to live in a land far from my birthplace, and I am now a proud and patriotic Australian, but I always remember my English roots and proudly fly the flag of St George next to the Australian flag on appropriate days.
I look forward to your next book.
Regards
Robert Brock
Can't wait to The Pagan Lord comes in Danish, so I have just started all over from the beginning for the third time!
Thank you.

I just would like to say that I find all your books a huge great read. I have read them all and often get a series out and start again, especially Sharpe. Being and ex soldier I am fascinated with how ancient warfare and how it happened, and you make it so clear. Please keep up the good work.

Hi Mr. Cornwell.
In an August 29 posting, Matt Shaner of Houston, TX asked about battlefield tours to sites featured in the Grail Quest. I would recommend to him Holt's Battlefield Tours, at http://www.holts.co.uk/index.html. They frequently do weekend tours of Crecy and Agincourt (though not this year) as well as tours of Wellington's Portugal and Spain and a tour of Alfred the Great's Britain.
