Dear Mr Cornwell
I have just achieved my ambition to own a copy of every book that you have ever published. I have managed to do this in a relatively short space of time, so I have many years of reading in front of me!
I am loving the Saxon series of books in particular, as like King Alfred, I too started my life in the town of Wantage.Best Regards

Dear Bernard.
sorry to trouble you, I see the next Saxon novel is due, I'm so excited but on the other hand I'm worried it will be the last, can you please at least curb that fear that the story still has a way to go, I love Uhtred!!!
Would love to see this series go to screen!
Thankyou,
Richard
The Pagan Lord is not the end of the series! There will be more!
Hi Bernard,
I just wanted to contact you & say a big thank you for getting me back into reading. I am 28 years old & must admit that I hadn't read a book for about 8-10 years. I'd start a book, get bored & give up.
I was in the book store a few years ago with a work colleague, whilst waiting for him I was looking at the new releases and came across A Burning Land. Although I now live in Calgary, Alberta. I was born & raised in Brentwood Essex so the fact the story took place in the region of the world it did, really grabbed my interest.
I bought the book & couldnt put it down & well I haven't looked back since. I own & have read all of the Saxon Chronicles as well as the Sharpe series up to Fury. I also have the Fort and have just finished Harlequin.
After a while I started to read other books in between your own, as the way I was going I would have completed all of them & then would have been bitterly disappointed having to wait upon each new release. As being only human you cannot produce the sheer volume of books that it would to now keep me satisfied.
You are by far my favourite author, not for just getting me back into reading but the subject matter & stories as well as your style of writing really suits me to a T.
I really look forward to see what happens next to Uhtred & hope there are a few more Saxon Stories to come. They are by far my favoutite set of stories ever. I once thought they would make a superb series of films, however no one would ever be able to do it the justice it deserves and tell the story the same way as you have created in these great books.Wyrd Bio ful araed (as close as I can get it).
I apologise for any bad spelling and my grammer. But once again a whole hearted thanks for getting me into the wonderful world of reading & look very much forward to my next book.
Tim Best
Thank you! I hope you'll keep on reading.
Firstly let me say thank you for taking me back in time each time I read your book's either reading about Thomas, Sharpe and especially Uhtred. Once I pick up one of your books I find it very hard to put it down :) please MORE of the same.

OK lets get it out the way...Yes I am a fan and have read or listened to your books and seen the Sharpe films. For that I thankyou but I suspect your skill and fans purchases have given you a great lifestyle.
You are however not getting younger and before life goes the way of ' Hornblower and the crisis' you do have an obligation to fulfil. Even if it means you go down the dreaded Clive Cussler road, who I suspect will Co write a Dirk Pitt / Noddy adventure if Enid Blytons relatives agree.
STARBUCK!!!!!! the last words were Starbuck will ride again. Bligh / Tumlin needs to be dealt with, Delaney cannot get off scot free and Falconer requires bringing down.
So please just do your job and make us all happy and no doubt you a lot richer!
There I have said it .
Thanks.
Jeff Sewell
I enjoyed greatly this book, as I do all of your books that I have read. But I do have a slight problem.
On page 380, you mention those killed at Poitiers and include the Duke of Athens and the Constable, Walter de Brienne. I think you will find that they are the same person.
all the best
Michael Ray
Aaaaargh. Thank you!
I started reading history books when I had an odd obsession with finding out more about Frederick II, leading me to the Nancy Mitford book that travelled with me on holiday. In Cuba, holidaying with my family, and the book did not take me long to finish. Far too far away to get a new book, my Dad lent me a book he was reading, The Fort. I was dubious at first, convinced his taste was nowhere near my standard of literature (the pride of a 16 year old, oh dear), but was very pleasantly surprised when I could not put the book down in my haste to reach the end.
Ever since then I have read many of your other books, but I really wanted to say that The Fort is truly a work of genius in my mind and I am still enthralled by it today.
I'm still only 17, but you've really inspired me to throw my all in with history and I thank you for that inspiration.Tora
Thank you so much for giving someone that truly detests non-fictional history a reason to care. The way you present what may have happened, accepting the reality that Sharpe could have never been in all those places, allows those of us who may never consider history before, realize that looking back at what has come before is rarely a bad idea.

I have read almost all of the Sharpe stories, & learned more from them about weapons & tactics than I learned in 9 years of soldiering - mind, I WAS provost...I am amazed at the level of research you must have done, to bring depth & colour to the scenarios you describe. In this attitude of awe & respect, therefore, I offer (humbly!) one fact. Next time one of your 'heroes' goes to sea - ropes are not 'flaked' down.(Sharpe's Trafalgar'). They are 'faked'.I take for my authority vol.1, Admiralty of Seamanship, '64 edition.pp121. Don't feel too bad about the mistake - it's a bet that has won me several drinks among 'yotty' mates! May you write a thousand more.

You’re right. Then, you’re a Provost, so of course you’re right. I just looked it up, and damn you, you’re right! Thank you!
I found Sharpe's Eagle, Gold and Sword at an estate sale today! I cannot tell you how elated I am to have these US first editions to add to my Bernard Cornwell collection! They are in very good condition and I checked the back of the title page to be sure they are indeed firsts. I just wanted to share my "find" with you.
Robert Draper
Hope you enjoy them!
