My wife and I visited friends in Charleston last week. Your name came up and prompted a visit to your site. I share your admiration of Richard Sharp, no doubt biased by my being both a Cornishman and an Oxonian. I was at the Calcutta Cup match in Edinburgh when he scored 19 elegant points in the first 20 minutes. What a shame he got hammered in South Africa.
Incidentally, it was interesting that the brilliant Oxford half back combination of the elusive Onyllwyn Brace and the steady Mike Smith failed separately at the international level. Brace baffled his team mates and Smith was too predictable.
Best wishes for your continued prodigious writing output.

Ah, the ankle injury!  I hope you notice the name of the Frenchman who Sharpe kills (with great glee) but makes certain to break his ankle first. Can’t remember which book it’s in, but it was a sweet revenge!

Thanks for writing good books. I like most of them. Two of my favorites are not part of a series; Gallows Thief, and Redcoat. I like the sailing mysteries since I lived on and sailed an Irwin 32 after college. I get tired of long series so I admit to not reading all of Sharpe. I won't mention everything I like. I do have other things to do today. I just bought 1356 so I will start that later. Many authors I like have died in the last ten years. Not hard since I am soon of social security age myself. I decided recently to try telling those I could tell thanks. So this is yours. I do have a long list, many of whom are not so easy to contact. I understand this. Good for you that you try.

Thanks again,

Larry

Thank you!

Needless to say old Richard Sharpe has taken a back seat to other historical periods.Years ago you told me in a letter he was alive and would march again. My pack is ready and I am ready to tag along on another adventure with the ranker. Richard has many fans and another adventure is long overdue. Something for the Sharpe fans please

I read with interest your comment about the American title. I came across this book accidentally when looking for an old Michael Connelly book. I would have never picked it up, or discovered your work, if it were titled Harlequin.  Would have been my loss.  It's a great book.  I look forward to the rest of the trilogy, but now I am into the Sharpe books and after that the Viking assaults.

Terrible error...I do apologise.

I have just one request, that you never allow HBO to destroy one of your wonderful writings with their filth that they add.  They have turned Game of Thrones into soft porn and I don't remember the book being like that.  Your writings draw me in and the details and research you put into them is what makes me keep turning the pages, not your use of sex to boost the ratings, if you have any like that I have yet to read one.  Don't get me wrong my favorite books are Historical Romance Novels so I am not a prude, but I just think HBO has a way of destroying wonderful stories with all the sex crap, there is always some in any story but good grief every scene does not need to have a naked woman or man in it.  So far I am in love with everything you have written and I just discovered you about 3 months ago and I have finished The Grail Series and now on the 3rd Saxon Series, LOVE LOVE LOVE!!!!

Q

Dear Bernard,
thank you for writing the Warlord Chronicles!

For years I had lost my interest in reading fiction/novels but your version of the legend of Arthur has changed this.

Best regards,

I was looking over your website for any titles I may have missed over the past 10 years, during which I have built a 20" steam powered pinnace (as yet unchristened.)  Through several thousand hours of construction I have listened to and enjoyed almost everything you have written and just wanted to drop you a line to thank you for the entertainment which sustained me through what otherwise would have been tedium.  I hope to launch this summer and will email you a picture...

Thanks for many hours of enjoyment.  My son in law is from Lent England and is proud of his Anglo-Saxon roots. Keep writing.

Q

Dear sir
I have read other comments asking about if the warlord saga will be made into films. I know there are no plans for it. Please sir can you not push this! Arthur's and Derfel's story must be shared!
