Absolutely love your remarks about lawyers and the role they play in why you won't read manuscripts or story ideas. And that's coming from me, as a lawyer. Anyway, my husband and I just watched Sharpe's Peril on DVD. The Sharpe's books brought us together. Please write some more. :)
PS - You have a GREAT sense of humor.

I just want to say as everyone else how much I love your books.  And what I like is that although I'm a girl and not into fighting and war stories as such, the way you tell the tale with bits of romance and stories of friendship running through make them amazing to read. I've read some of the series so many times. You make history fun because after I've finished the book I love to check out the historical note to find out what was real and not.  Thankyou and please don't ever stop! !!!!!

Hello Mr Cornwell,

I hope this message finds you and your family all well. Ever since reading the Arthur books a few years ago I have loved your stuff, although only recently read the 1st Sharpe novel for some reason so a lot to look forward to for me!

Thoroughly enjoying the Alfred books, not a period I know a lot about so it has been nice to read up on it, historical fiction always encourages me to find out more about the era, it always feels like a bit of a guilty pleasure so this way I justify it to myself!

As much as I have enjoyed your other work though, if you could manage to fit in more Starbuck work I for one would be very appreciative. I know you have addressed this on your website but I decided to see if I could be the straw that broke the camels back so to speak!

Regardless of where your writing path takes you next I am sure I will continue to be a fan & wish you all the best & good health for the future.

Kind regards
Jon

Q

Dear Mr Cornwell,

I've read a fair number of your books.  My wife and I stumbled upon our first story of yours when we looked for a book on CD for a road trip, The Last Kingdom.  I absolutely loved it.  Few stories have engaged me as much.  I laughed so hard reading certain scenes that people avoided me afterwards on the metro.  I just finished Death of Kings and await the next story.

I'm so spoiled with the quality of your writing that I've discovered I can't tolerate reading lessor stories, even books I liked as a teen.

Another of my favorite authors happens to be George R. R. Martin, and it was fun reading the interview of the two of you.  I know a number of his fans are concerned he won't finish his A Song of Ice and Fire series.  My vote, should that happen, would be for you to finish them, supposing you are interested.  I can't think of anyone besides you and him who could do it well.

I'm looking forward to more stories from both of you.

-John

I believe that every person that take time to write something, spend some time thinking about how the reader will react to this. I write because, just like you, I would like to share my history.
I was always a huge fan of historical romances, as soon as I learned to read and understand. Motivated by my father, I grew with Alexandros trilogy (of Valerio Manfredi) under the arm and the Arthur trilogy under the other – and I think that a large part of my life has a grownup reflects those repetitive and passionate readings. With the time, I read the other books of your authorship and the rapture went with The Saxon Histories.
Curiously, and by a quirk of fate, the important points of my life were guided by reading Uhtred and his tireless struggle amid the whims of the gods. Were in the first two books that deeply charmed and convinced me about my love to history, motivating me to study hard and get entering at the University of São Paulo, in the History major.
I loved what I was studying and dived in academic lectures, and then accompanied only the volumes two ant three of the chronicles over three years of my degree.
The fascinating point, and that motivates me to write and share my little story, that's how much I owe Uhtred for teaching me to live with destiny. Wyrd Bid Ful Ãraed. The years flew by and even that I still in love with my graduation, I realized that something was changing and I was being guided by other seas which ever imagined being. Coincidentally, by another twist of fate, the year of greatest doubt in my life coincided with the reading of the fifth volume - one that, for me, best portrays the unexpected change in ways that destiny leads us, and in him we have a more mature Uhtred , that understand these changes in the tide. It is a warrior who accepts his fate and goes for it without fear.
I decided to do the same and accept what was happening around me. I realized what was missing for me and where my path led. I studied more intensely, and after the graduation in History, I took the brazilian SAT to be accepted in the Law School, from the University of São Paulo.
Today I feel happy and full of my decisions, years of history make my understanding of law something much broader. I understand that the spinners have done in my life and I am grateful for having learned indirectly through your books to feel the winds of change and strive for the target points where to go.
And so I took the liberty of writing. I wanted you to know that besides providing excellent readings, you can teach subtle lessons of life that I was grateful to learn - here we speak "best by love than by pain."
I follow now in the Saxon Histories breaking where fate led Uhtred and very grateful to know my tread.
Thank you very much Mr. Cornwell.

Hello Bernard -

I had this whole email worked out telling you about how much I enjoy your books and just how much much I'm loving The Warrior Chronicles, but the truth of it is that I just wanted to give you a simple 'thank you'. If any of your books are looking for TV adaptations then this should be it, because Uhtred is a fantastically realised character and I'm sure it'd be up there with some of the great shows that are on the go at the moment.

Thanks again, and all the best.
