I thoroughly enjoyed the Last Kingdom and was both surprised and very pleased that my family tree also goes back to Uhtred the Bold. He is ( was?) my 31st great grandfather. Alfred the Great is on another branch as my 35th great grandfather. I'm sure I'm one of many but it's still interesting and thanks to you that I researched and learned this!

I thought this video on the rather Unknown Battle of Ridgeway and the Fenian Invasions of Canada might be of interest to you and your readers. Irish Veterans of the US Civil War thought the best was to liberate Ireland was by Conquering Canada. It ended up making Canada by uniting the various different states of Canada into 1 Nation and the British giving it Dominion status, primarily because they didn't want to lay for its defence, . Its rare for a Country to celebrate a defeat but  this defeat actually helped make it as a Nation so it is

I love every book of yours i`ve read. The Warlord Trilogy is great and so is all your Saxon series. I`ve only read 2 of your Sharpe`s so far but i have to say i love how you write the Irish. My 2 favourite characters of yours are Harper and Finan the Agile. You make this plastic paddy happy.

I just wanted to thank you for writing ‘The Warlord Chronicles’. I absolutely love this tale & along with The Lord of the Rings it has been my favourite fictional trilogy in literature for a number of years. The prose, the people, the places and plot are all perfect! I read this series once a year without fail (I’ve just finished it again). I feel a special kinship with the protagonist since we are both filthy Anglo Saxons, but I relate to most of the characters in one way or another which can only be down to the fact that they are the creation of a truly great author. You have a deep understanding of the human heart and have a diabolical talent for stirring the reader through the emotion, violence, humour, history and intrigue of each chapter. My favourite characters are Merlin & Guinevere but Bishop Samsun is a fantastic creation all of your own! Again, thank you!

I'm almost 50 and I have been reading your books for what seems like an eternity. I've never written anyone like this, however I thought it would be nice to provide some positive feedback.

 

Of all the books I've read, yours have been the most satisfying. Having a background in small museum operations, I've always had an interest in history and the humanities. Your historical-fictions have been an absolute treat and I was incredibly happy to see that I missed your latest Sharpe adventure (that my wife is ordering for me this very moment). I do believe that I'll also have her order me your one and only non-fiction historical paperback.

 

Your Last Kingdom series is one of my favourites as well. Such vivid stories woven around general historical events add so much more to a character's adventures and life. And I truly think many have been inspired to delve into real historical works as a result of your novels.

 

I am also looking forward to eventually getting: The Fort. Please, no spoilers!

 

I'm just very pleased there are writers like you and simply wanted to offer my praise of your work.

I have enjoyed reading all of the books in the Last Kingdom series. They were great!  However, I must admit disappointment in the TV series.  It bears little resemblance to the books, the sound is terrible and the lighting is very poor.

Have you read Graves final book on his Trilogy on Fort Erie and Plattsburgh ?

If you do decide to write a Frederickson Spin off on his time in Canada and the War of 1812 , Lundys Lane and Fort Erie seem perfect for him and they were just as bloody as Waterloo albeit on a smaller scale.
