Q

Dear Sir,

Upon finishing Excalibur, I have just spent ten minutes in my kitchen, sobbing.  I have cried a few times throughout the series, but rarely have I been so very upset over the end of a book.  Having read various versions of the Merlin/Arthur legend, including Mary Stewart's wonderful trilogy, I was not expecting to like your somewhat less romantic version.  It is hindering my own writing, my love of romanticism and my fascination with historical accuracy.  But to my great annoyance, I loved your series.

As a further note, I also highly enjoy your Sharpe series, and loved reading of your defiance to those who would criticise it, such as the inspiration behind Sweet William.

I hope this message brings you some sense of satisfaction, and may you write for many more years to come.

Rachael.

I am glad to know you enjoyed the books (I think!).  Thanks for taking the time to write.

Q

Just want to say thankyou, for your many great and interesting series of books that you have written. At the moment I have just finished Death of Kings, after re-reading the whole series again (3rd time).
Looks like Thomas Hookton will have to come back out, to get me prepared for your new release in that series, can't you write them any faster!!

Once again thankyou.

Neal Cooper

Q

Mr. Cornwell,
Thank you for putting out the work that you do. I am very fond of the Saxon series and of course Sharpe.

Q

Dear Mr Cornwell,

I just wanted to tell you, that I am a big fan of your books. I just finished the Arthur-Trilogy within half a month and am looking forward to reading Uhtred's newest adventures, although it may take a while, until they are translated.
Your books are bestsellers even in Switzerland and I absolutely loved the stories about the early Britain. I might start another series of your books next month, when I got new money :D

Q

Dear Mr. Cornwell,

I have read every book that has your name on it. My 12 year old son swears like a British soldier from the Napoleonic Wars. He has all Sharpes DVD's since he was 9.
You are with out a doubt my favorite writer. Just read Death of Kings awesome, as usual. But, I also just read 'Fallen Angels'. That had your name on it. It was a huge disappointment. I enjoy your historical details, sorely lacking in this book. Although your typical descriptions of battles, shield walls and the stuff your warriors perpetrate on good and bad guys and gals is not gentle - the kinky vulgar sex and perversion was over the top. I know you make your bad guys worthy of what they get in the end, you didn't have to go so far to the dark side.

I will have to be more careful when I reach for a Bernard Cornwell book in the future, too bad.

Q

Hey Mr. Cornwell,

Firstly I would like to say that I'm a big fan of you and of your job.  I'm a Brazilian fan who lived in England Llondon) for a while so I'm a big fan of England's history too.  I've  been reading the saxon stories, I just finished the fourth book, and I already have the fifth and the last one.
I already read a lot of epic stories but for sure the saxon stories are the best books ever read by me, thanks for writing it

From a huge brazilian fan,

Thiago

Q

Dear Mr Cornwell

It has been some time since my last communique, but I'd like to once again express my  awe and gratitude for your work.  I have just finished reading The Last Kingdom and once again you have created an engaging and stalwart character in Uhtred!

I have been involved in Medieval Reenactment now for a number of years and your books have become my bible for life and living in those times and I draw much inspiration from your characters, My own persona being that of a Saxon, so again thank you

Hi, my name is Nicholas, I'm currently 26 yrs old and living in Alberta Canada.
When I  was 12 yrs old my father told me to go pick a book out of his library to read.  I came across Sharpe's Rifles. I immediately fell in love with Richard Sharpe and Patrick Harper.  I have, over the years, collected and read every single book including the one during Christmas that I found on my wife's e reader.  I then moved onto the gallows series and the holy grail one also Nicholas Hook's battle at Azincourt.  I can reread it again and again.  I then found a new series that I missed, started with The Burning Land, lol.  Once I noticed more, I started it again and I must say you have a way to captivate the reader and make them feel they are in the shoes of Daniel Hangman standing in square at Waterloo or Thomas Hookton facing the French army or Richard Sharpe storming Gawlighar or even Uhtred standing in a shield wall.  I have read many other authors all talented but you remain my favorite.  I'm fairly sure I have read or own every book you have written.  I am waiting for your newest book, I have pre ordered it for October.  Keep writing and I'll keep reading. Thank you for the Honor to experience Your books . Thanks you Sir and I can't wait for the Next one

Regards,

Nicholas

I am currently in the final 1.5 months of my PhD in molecular biology (aka I want to curl up into a ball and have my mommy take care of me - probably wouldn't go over well with my wife).  I have foolishly been convinced by my supervisor that I will indeed graduate and that the current 4th final draft of my thesis will be my final draft - granted that I have been able to read her mind correctly this time.  Overall my graduate experience has been a good one but after living science all day everyday for the last five years I was in desperate need of relief.  After finishing the Game of Thrones series last summer I was at a loss.  After being given Death of Kings for christmas last year, I found my salvation.  I have made way through the saxon stories, The Fort, Azincourt and have just started the Warlord Chronicles.  Thank you.  I look forward to starting the Sharpe books.  I hope you've had a great summer.

Best of luck with that thesis!
