Mr. Cornwell,

I love your work, especially The Saxon Tales, and The Grail Quest series.  Whenever I get one of your books I simply cannot put it down.  They are so amazingly interesting and are completely historically accurate.  My family does renaissance reenactment and I love to learn about medieval and renaissance era England and Scotland, and your books are something that I often use.  Its funny I will read one of your books and I will talk to someone who is a history major about a subject that you have covered.  As I have said before your stories are just so enthralling, you are an amazing author and I can't wait for your next piece of art to be available.

Sincerely,
Andrew Vail

Hello Bernard,

I have reactivated my interest in geneology after a 10 years hiatis and what a difference the internet has made since then. I have confirmed my links to the Christian family of the Isle of Man and they connected to the Neville family of Northumberland and eventually to Aeldgyth and much to my suprise Uhtred, Earl of Northumberland. I'm sure this may be the Uhtred of the Saxon series. Only a few weeks earlier I had read the 3rd of the saxon series and read the note about your link with the real Uhtred. Just ordered the last two books in the series, can't wait. I'm a New Zealander , spent 14 years in the RNZN mainly in the Far East and was at the Mururoa French bomb test in 1973. Also spent a year  in 1970 training at HMS Collingwood in Hampshire.  Would love to come to England again but to the England I knew in 1970?  Have also found direct Link ancestors who were at Trafalgar and Waterloo. So all these years I have been reading history and quite often have been reading about my ancesters. Well thank you for some very entertaining reading over the past years, normally only read historical fiction, very interested in anything Roman, my favourite roman is Cornelius Sula, what a life that man had.
Kindest Regards

Q

Mr. Cornwell,

I'm glad to have found your website as it gives me the opportunity to thank you for your books. In high school, if I remember correctly, the Grail Quest series were some of my favorite stories and likely spurred within me an interest in medieval history. Now I've gone back through those, and have moved onto your other works of which I particularly enjoy the Arthurian stuff. Merlin was a fantastic characterization, as was Arthur. Also I like the period in which they are set, and you did a commendable job describing with lucidity a time which is unfortunately under-documented. Lastly I must mention the cleverness with which you handled magic in the Arthur books. It was a wildly delicate feat to make so believable the ancient mysteries while still adhering to a naturalistic world. Anyway I should probably wrap up, as its bad to be dull, though there is more that could be said. I realize now that I'm starting to write myself (comics, I'm an illustrator) that your books have had a profound influence on how I think. Though I have since read and seen many other things, all of which have been stipped of clear identity and absorbed into the boiling gray mass that is a person's inspiration, it is undeniable that somewhere there at the center of it all is your work.

So thank you again, and I hope you're doing well.

I have only one complaint.  You do not write enough books quick enough!  I'm sure all of your diehard readers can take up a collection to hire grass cutters, house cleaners, cooks, chaueffers,,etc,,,to free up more of your time to write.

Just a note to let you know how eagerly so many of us await each new book.  We realize the depth you write in takes time, we just want more, now!

Thanks again for providing such interesting, educational recreation.  You're one of the best.
Bob

Dear Bernard,

I was a pupil at Halliford School in the early seventies and you were my history teacher. Just to thank you for the pleasure my son has had from your books most of which he has read.
Best wishes
Mark

That was a long time ago!

Q

Mr. Cornwell, I would like to thank you for writing so many books that have made my free time so enjoyable!  I'm a big fan of Uhtred and Thomas of Hookton, and your writing style is captivating.  I'm about to start the Sharpe Series, and look forward to more from you.  Best wishes from Chicago, and if you are ever visiting here I'd love to buy you a pint!

Q

Mr. Cornwell,

I just wanted to say that I recently discovered you (past 2 months).  My father lent me "The Fort", and it was absolutely incredible.  I have since read 2 of the Saxon novels (out of order, because at first I did not know "Sword Song" was part of a series, but since have read "The Last Kingdom") and just started reading both "The Patriot" and "The Pale Horseman", and just completed the 1st 3 Starbuck books.  Your books are absolutely awesome, and I am begging you, finish the Starbuck Chronicles.  I know that you probably have heard this often over the years, but I dread when I come to an end of a good series, always wanting more, and to know that I am about to end a series midstream is awful. His story is too good to ignore.  Thankfully, you have a number of other books for me to read (my father says Stonehenge was fantastic), but please don't leave the story unfinished.
Colin

Q

Dear Bernard,

Interested to see your background as I am ex-RCAF and RAF, The only subjects I liked (and was any good at in school) were history, latin and english. I have long been a fan of "historical fiction"; Conn Iggulden, Simon Scarrow, Sam Barone and many others. But, I have to say you are the King of them all; I feel like I was there with Sharp, Thomas, Uhtred, Derfel - and the rest of your "heroes". It is hard with your books to tell where fiction begins, and truth ends - and vice-versa. You write so very well, gripping stories - and the only complaint I have is that I am despondent to finish any of your books.

It is quite inadequate to say thanks for all the enjoyment your wonderful books have made for me. All of them - and I have read  every one, mostly on Kindle.

Best regards,

Hi Bernard,
I am hoping that there is more Saxon Stories as I just can't get to read enough of these type of historical and fictional novels. I have read all your books except the Sharpe series which will take me a while to get through.
