I have been a regular visitor to the "your questions" section of your website and find great enjoyment in both your fans questions/comments and your subsequent responses. One thing that struck me as slightly naive of some of your readers is the negative comments they make regarding your portrayal of Christianity. The simple truth is that the church was a greedy and corrupt entity all throughout the middle ages. Something akin to the sub prime mortgage lenders of the modern age, except they held the deeds to your soul instead of your land ... except for poor Uhtred where they held both!!! In closing, let me just say your Warlord Chronicles were the best books I have ever read and yes I have read Tolkien and GRRM. My favourite character however comes from one of your other novels... Thomas Hatfield. he only shone briefly but by golly he shone bright! P.S. Don't feel to bad about your last cricket outing, I went for a golden duck my last venture onto the oval. A full toss that took the bails cleanly!

Hi Mr. Cornwell, I´m writing from Brazil and I just want you to know that I love your books!! They are my absolutely favorites! I´ve even traveled to England to see some of the places you mention! Please, never stop writing the Saxon Stories!! And visiting Stonehenge after reading your book was magnificent!! Thank you very much for all the fun and historical facts!! Samira Waquil

I just finished "Death of Kings," having avidly read the others in the Saxon Stories. The first three were a Christmas present from my brother-in-law. I hope we will not need to wait to long for the future adventures of Uhtred. I saw "Redcoat" in the list of other books you have written, which put in mind of the books of Kenneth Roberts, including Oliver Wiswell. (My favorite was "Lydia Bailey.") While taking a Spanish history and literature course during the 1990's, I was assigned to write and present a paper about the Spanish War of Independence. I think I will enjoy the Sharpe novels. I hope your prolific writing career continues for many years.

Dear Sir, It has been my absolute pleasure reading your books for the last few years! I've not read the Sharpe series yet but the Arthur,Grail, and, especially, the Saxon Stories are splendid!!! My family is of English and Scots heritage and I've spent much too much time reading your sources as well. Thank you so much for the excellent entertainment! jgf

Hello Mr. Cornwell, Recently you had one fan ask what pistol Starbuck removed from Ridley's corpse at First Manassas. It is my favorite series of yours and I have read 'Rebel' a few times now. I can say with certainty that the pistol was a double-action Adams Revolver. -Ryan

I'm very grateful! I shall reacquaint myself with that model as soon as I can!

Thanks for letting me spent some time with Uhtred. It was great fun and I loved every minute. Best regards, Tom Labus

Hello, Bernard Cornwell, just wanted to let you know I'm reading and so enjoying your novel, Agincourt. The information interwoven into the narrative, about archers and long bows, how the battle was fought, etc. etc. is just so fascinating. I love the feeling of being connected with all those who have gone before us... and your book does a terrific job of giving that feeling. Thank you. Sincerely, Lynn Evans Torrance, California

Dear Sir, I've just finished reading a factual book by Nathaniel Philbrick entitled "Mayflower A Voyage to War." It is very interesting but it reminded me a bit of your trilogies. I don't think it is a period you have written about but if you are ever stuck for ideas I am sure you could make a brilliant series out of the Native Indians plight - particularly the character of Annawon who seems to be present from the moment the Pilgrim's arrive, right throughout King Philip's War. I would try and write it myself but I do not have the skill and I'm sure you could do it better! I realise this is a strange e-mail so apologies for that but after reading the book I felt it was such a good story and you could really do it justice. Many thanks Rhys Benjamin

As I am from Caerleon in South Wales, the Arthur legend is very important to us in this area and your accurate cultural portrayal of Brythonic Celts adds weight to your writing. Thank you for this.

I just wanted to let you know how much I appreciate your work! I am currently reading the Sharpe books but have also read most of the Saxon tales and the Grail Quest series. I have a passion for history, especially Medieval England. Having only been able to visit England twice & prior to reading your books, I really want to make another trip across the pond and see some of the places you have written about in your books. You certainly have an incredible grasp of the warrior mindset which is something few authors seem to fully understand. Please keep up the good work! It's great stuff! Brett Swigert
