Dear Mr. Cornwell, Thank you for your newest book. Due to the nature of my work, I haven't read beyond the first chapter yet. The Saxon series has been a favorite, although I did enjoy your king Arthur series tremendously.. In this latter case, I read the three books at a stretch, since the series was already completed. Now I have to wait a year for the latest Saxon book, by which time the details of the last book have grown too hazy. But what is remarkable is how skillfully you recommense the stories. Untried returns with the same humorous wits and recommenses his friendly if mischievous banter with the priests. I thought the infant saint and the fish bone jokes were hilarious. This reminded me of how much I love this series and of why I admire you as a writer. Thanks again for another well-written book.

Hi Bernard, Re your recent announcement about World Book Night; I would gladly volunteer my time should this program come to Canada and there is an event in or close to my community (Surrey, BC)

Thanks! Hope it will reach Canada before too long.

Hello Mr Cornwell Just read a great interview between you and George R Martin, I had my entire book collection signed by you in York in 2006. Like a lot of your fans, I'd like to ask again for you to consider carrying on with my namesake Nathaniel Starbuck. I'm an englishman living in Copenhagen Denmark with my Danish girlfriend, and I'm happy to tell you she loves the Saxon/Danish books and sharpe's prey. Would you think about a visit over to Copenhagen at some point or better still Roskilde (Viking captial of Denmark). What your writing plans are for the future, I for one can't wait to read whatever it is you produce. Best wishes from freezing Copenhagen Nathaniel Farrell

I'd love to visit Copenhagen, or Roskilde - but maybe not this time of year!

Q

Dear Mr. Cornwell I started reading the Sharpe series after I happened to run into the show on a PBS station while doing a little channel surfing. I loved the series and you made a fan and I immediately started by the books in the order they were written. I looked up more books by Bernard Cornwell and I have now pretty much gone through the gamut except for the Starbuck Chronicles. As I mentioned I am pretty much enamored of all your characters and in all honesty am very jealous of your talent and wish I had a just a small percentage of it. I am presently in the last stages of Death of Kings and without a doubt Uhtred has become my favorite character and it is my favorite historical time period. I was however a bit disappointed in what I considered a fairly short novel and I hate the thought of finishing it as fast as I have. Please give me more Uhtred soon and if possible give me more pages of one of the greatest characters ever conceived, by the best historical novelist in my lifetime. BTW Mr. Cornwell as much as I hate to admit it that lifetime will soon hit seventy.Gawwwwd As a reader since my early years (hell I remember skipping school to go to the library to read,LOL) so you can take this as giant compliment from a devoted fan. Regards, Ken Herrmann

Q

having just finished reading Death of Kings, and as usual with all your books it was brilliant, I then read the historical notes, and was very frustrated to find Wimborne spelt Wimbourne, there is no U in Wimborne, it may be a silly little thing, but having lived in Wimborne all my life, in excess of 50 years, it does niggle us Wimborne folk, but as i said, yet again a brilliant book, so hard to put down

Oh God, mea culpa. Sorry.

Q

Dear Bernard, I noticed somebody sent you the question below: "Dear Mr. Cornwell, Have you written a story set in Ethiopia, where two soldiers one British and one American, fix armoured cars and fight for the Ethiopian King? The story takes place from 1920-1940? Michael Burgess" This sounds like "Cry Wolf" by Wilbur Smith, in case he's still looking for it. Paul, Ireland.

Q

Sir, My name is Lieutenant Colonel Jason Bridges. I started reading your books on my last deployment to Iraq and can't put them down. The Saxon Chronicles and Sharpe Series were particular hits among our Soldiers. It was always a great escape to read one of your books when we had the time and as we move on to the next deployment I'm going to be sure to stock a foot locker of your books to take! Take care and keep the Saxon chronicles coming. Thanks much!

Jason Bridges

The thanks go to you!

Q

I have only read your Saxon Series as I fell in love with Uhtred. Thank you for creating this series. I am a huge fan of historical fiction and am not the one for a Harlequin type of storyline. I look forward to reading the other series and getting to know your characters better. I hope to become a writer one day and only hope that I can finesse the storyline as well as you do. Belinda

Q

Hello, Mr. Cornwell, I just finished Death of Kings and it was fantastic. I buy a copy every time the next series comes out and when I'm done I pick up The Last Kingdom and start over. I am an avid book reader and buy far, these are the best books I've read, and I have read a lot of books! Never have I been so hooked to a series of books like the Saxon series. I have read other books of yours, Stonehenge, Agincourt, and The Archers Tale. But the Saxon series are my favorite. Please, I beg of you, don't make me wait 2 years for the next one in the series! Hope to see you at a book signing in Los Angeles one day. Thank you again for the wonderful adventures with Uhtred!

Armen

Very rarely have I continued reading a series, but the Saxon Tales have been hard to pass up. If your books were a banned substance we would both be in trouble. :-)
