When I was growing up, it was The Eagle Annual. Now I look forward to the latest in the Uhtred Saga. Another masterpiece, so many thanks. Hope you don't take too long to finish the series: I'm not getting any younger!

Dear Mr Cornwell, I have just finished your book Death of Kings in 2 days. I love your books on Uhtred. i am from Norway, now living in Ireland and the history in your books have been in my interest for as long as I can remember. I have read all the books in the series and am now wondering when I should be looking for the next book that will hopefully be continuing the story of Uhtred? Hope you had a great holiday celebration. Kind regards Linn Kristensen

A

There will be more to Uhtred's story, but right now I can't say when it will be....

Q

Hello Mr Cornwell, I have just finished Death of Kings, loved it by the way, and it got me thinking of the earlier books in the series, looked up your website to see which one I'm missing (The Last Kingdom) and found this "your questions" section, how cool is this I think to myself. So I'm reading through and see your answering so many questions, which gets me thinking...you could be halfway through the next book if you weren't so busy writing answers. But now here I am, wasting time you could be spending in 900 AD. Time for me to disappear in a puff of logic ;) Cheers CB

Q

I just want to say I discovered your work through the Starbuck Chronicles. I am reading your other books while I wait for Starbuck's return to the battlefield. Every book that I have read of yours has been great. You have become my favorite author. I must say though, if Starbuck returns, it would be book I would buy on the first day of its release. I have never done that for a book.

Mike

I just wanted to say that you are my new favorite author and my entire family is waiting anxiously for the new Saxon Tale. Every time a book comes, I get the same question, "Is it here yet?" I know lots of folks like you, but I just thought I'd let you know the Baron Family in TN, NY, and DC adore your books. Thanks Jody

Thanks for letting me know!

When I took grandchildren to Barnes & Noble bookstore, I browsed--and I purchased in paperback Sword Song (which I read first), and Agincourt, which I read second. You have me hooked, even though I thought the 1st book "bloody" beyond words; however, I realize that probably that was THE WAY back in those times. Consequently, I have purchased online the first two Saxon Chronicle books, hardcover; and the hardback of Agincourt to give to my younger son, who was at one time an archer. . . You have explained (at the back of Agincourt) the true history of the longbow--I had heard of the longbow, but NEVER understood its significance in English history. Thank you for taking me on a trip to--I surely can't say "Merry ol' England"--but to a period of time in which I am very thankful I did not live; however, being of English ancestry (both sides) obviously my tough ancestors DID live in that time, and I appreciate your knowledge, your interest, and your diligence into weaving it all into VERY READABLE history, certainly mesmerizing tales for us ordinary citizens. I READ Agincourt until the wee hours of the morning on New Year's! Oh,not being well versed in English history at all, I HAD to find out who WON that battle--I had heard, too, of the Battle of Agincourt--but had no knowledge of it other than it had SOME significance. Thanks! Elfreth

Q

Hi Bernard, just finished your latest excellent novel, Death of Kings. Love your work! I was really amazed to read in the historical notes that you are descended from the historic Owners of Banburgh Castle as, completely coincidentally, so is my business partner but from a much later date. How weird is that! Anyway, no question for you, just a thank you for brilliant characters in great stories. Looking forward to the next one All the best Brian Matson

I just finished reading Death of Kings and I loved it. I spent the last 2 days immersed! Two suggestions for the next edition - a more detailed map, and a more detailed family tree. Cynthia

A

Maps are always a problem . . . they arrive so late in the publishing process, and that isn't an excuse - I'll try to hasten things (and improve them) next time. The family tree? Oh god, the publisher put one in a book and it was a travesty. Maybe we should try again (and get it right this time)
