Hi Bernard! You may get annoyed at times at the volume of your fan mail and little pointless messages like this are probably and irritant but I just wanted to express my gratitude at the job you do. I am 20 years of age and after trying and failing to join the armed forces due to a problem with my leg your books helped me realise my new passion. History! I am currently studying for my degree in modern history and I plan to work in history and hopefully become a historical novelist myself one day. So I would simply like to say thank you. I hope that you continue to create these master pieces and I hope that others are as inspired by your work as I am! Thanks for your time. Phil, Yorkshire

Best of luck to you!

I believe your really missing the boat with sweet William. He definitely deserves his own series. perhaps during american revolution? or the war of 1812 . I knew a man in the navy who was always rising in the ranks and then getting drunk and doing something outlandish that would always cause him to be broke down in rate. I see sweet William as such a fellow. I donate all intellectual rights to you if you wish to pursue such a course.

Just wanted to say thank you really for providing such a wealth of historical literature. As a student of Spanish and History I found your Sharpe series, in particular, a brilliant and enthusing complement to the study of the Peninsula War. I feel this series is so carefully written as to offer a really useful insight into what life was like for those who lived through it. Within this, and what I marvel at most, is that for me Sharpe's humanity is maintained through countless episodes of near superhuman behaviour and luck. Despite these superhuman qualities and experiences, and cynicism on my part, for me he remains entirely human and the plots believable throughout the series. This is even more impressive considering that the books were not written in chronological order. I too would dearly love to carve a career out of history in this manner if at all possible, in the remote chance that you leave any periods or events unturned! My personal favourite has always been Sharpes Revenge. I thought Azincourt was also marvellous. Similar feats of accuracy and reconstruction made for an immensely enjoyable and unnoticeably educational read. Thank you, your books are inspiring and worth every penny.

Q

Dear Mr. Cornwell, I would just like to write and thank you for the many years of enjoyment your books have given me. I was Born in Bridgwater, Somerset - Lived for many years in Bristol - And currently live in Glastonbury. While it is clear that everywhere, technically, has had the same amount of history, there seems to have been an extra helping of it around here. I found your description of Athelney especially moving. It has always struck me as a real hidden treasure. I have no requests or questions for you, just many best wishes to pass on. Again, Many thanks. Regards Andy Bollan Benedict st. Glastonbury

I have read your reply to the enquiry as to whether there will be further Starbuck novels. I would add my encouragement to do so. I am dying to know how you get Nate out of being on the losing side. I love Sharpe & all your other series but none have this intriguing dilemma.

Q

Dear Mr Cornwell, I just want to thank you for your Saxon Stories. They are the best historical novels I have read for years. The Death of Kings was an enjoyment. Your characters really live, I´m fond of the good ones , worry when they are in danger and loath the evil guys. So thank you and please, continue soon! Helena Tuuteri Finland

Dear Bernard. I just wanted to thank you for choosing to pursue a career in writing. I have only recently discovered your books ( and am very glad i did) I started with Stonehenge and the Warlord chronicles ( I was off work after an operation for three weeks) and read them all. A friend recently loaned me the first in the Saxon series, which i have just finished and have now asked him for the next one. I absolutely love the way you write, I get so sucked in to the stories and am sad when i finish a book, especially the Arthur series, which i really enjoyed. Once again i wanted to say thank you.

Mr. Cornwell, I have and have read all of your books to date with the Saxon series being my favorite! I cannot wait for the next one, The Death of Kings. I will have a long wait because I buy them in paperback. Anyway I would like to thank you for the countless pleasurable hours I have had and will keep having from reading your new novels and rereading the older ones!THANK YOU!I would also like to tell you that you are easily my favorite author and in my opinion the best author ever! Q

read nearly everything you have written i was disappointed with death of kings .UTREDD has become middle aged hardly any fighting rather dull unlike earlier books ..you need to put some spark back in the books,,,you can do a lot better. Joseph Shaoul

Q

Bernard, I'm not trying to bother you as I probably have done in the past with questions about writing or when Uhtred will have more to say about his life, or basically anything else that requires an response. All I wish to do is thank you for exposing my mind to historical fiction, for it is the greatest passion I have and if I hadn't randomly found Stonehenge in a nearby bookstore one night about four or five years ago I would still be what I consider blind to the reading world. So thank you, and keep up the amazing work, for I have found no one that tells a better tale for me than you do.
