Hello Mr Cornwell, I've never contacted an author before but I would like to let you know how very much I enjoy your books. I'm an avid book reader, have been since a child, but your stories of Uhtred are absolutely wonderful. I've just finished Lords of the North and I feel like I'm wandering though the places I grew up visiting. I'm originally from Normanby (Middlesbrough), now living in New Zealand, so I personally feel close to the story lines and now have to hunt down Sword Song. Anyway, just wanted to let you know how enjoyable the books are. Best wishes Steve

One of the reasons I did not make better grades in Jr. High School was that I would check out a book from the library in the morning, and read it that day, and get another the next day. So I have read thousands of books. I have read two of yours, and an in the middle of "The Last Kingdom." After two glasses of wine, I decided to tell you how much I enjoy it. It is a pleasure to read! I read many books, but I must say you are one of the best. Hang in there, and keep me stocked with books.

My name, as far as I know, means hog farmer, in Norse. Not exactly a plum. Proud of it anyway. I love your books my friend. You've given me many, many hours of enjoyment and a good dose of history along the way. I really think your works could easily be made into extremely exciting movies. NOT made for TV junk but be truly entertaining and profitable in a wide market. If I had a hundred million, I would do it in a heartbeat. It's sad that it probably will not be done. My life has been better because of you. Thank you. Jim Griscom
Dear Mr. Cornwell, As I came to the end of the Sharpe books and felt a sadness that the adventure was coming to the end, I am now experiencing the same feelings as I get close to the end of The Starbuck Chronicles, The Bloody Ground. Yes, there are many similarities between Nate and Sharpe, but what captivates me with Starbuck is its on American soil and our history in the States. I did learn much from Sharpe on the histories of England, France and the Napoleonic wars, there is still a much stronger bond to U.S. history for this American. With the right actor maybe you could breath life back in to Nathaniel for the rest of the Civil War and a movie/series to support it. My wish for Christmas. There are the Saxon and Arthur books still waiting to be explored but Starbuck is truly captivating and you have nailed the sights, sounds and smells of the great tragedy of our Civil War. Thank you for keeping my imagination and love of history alive.

Ordered "The Burning Land" from Amazon.uk as I couldn't wait until it showed up in Canada. All I can say is EXCELLENT!

Mr.Cornwell, I originally visited your website to ask about further Starbuck novels-if there were going to be any and when! I've read your answer to that,so thank you. I also want to tell you that you're my favourite author and that I've been reading your books since I was a teenager,(over 20 years ago). My Dad,(who unfortunately is no longer here),first introduced me to Sharpe. Before that I'd limited myself, completely,to Fantasy novels. I'm in the library and my time is running out,so a couple of things before I go:-I'm loving the books of Uhtred, those and the Starbuck novels are my 2 favourite series written by you! I really do hope that 1 day you'll continue with the Starbuck Chronicles. Thank you for reading this. Richard Thomas
Hello, I am 21 and have never read a real book until the beginning of 2009. Traveling through school and my later teenage years I was one of those that thought it was 'uncool', and how I was so wrong. I have tried to start a few book set in different periods of time and types but have never been captivated by a story to carry on reading. At the beginning of this year along with my new found thirst for knowledge I decided to try and complete a book, searching all of the different types of book out there I came across your Azincourt. I read the blurb and the reviews and thought, I have an interest in this part of history and some knowledge, why not? So I bought your book. I would like to thank you for such a brilliant story, I love how I can connect to Nick as he is just a common man in such a defining chapter of our history. You have bought me into the wonderful world of reading which I have never experienced before and now I have a great list of books lined up to read next! I am currently nearing the end of Harlequin with the other two of the series ready, in waiting to unleash my imagination. Again, I would like to thank you for the great stories and broadening my mind, not only do I get a great story but I learn as well, and this spurs me to research the period and grow with knowledge. Sorry to go on so much but I understand you sign book via post. I would possibly, in the near future, like you to sign a book, whether your at a signing in my area or via post. That would very much be appreciated! Thank you for taking the time to read my email. Regards Gary Oliver

Ah...inspired by you I called my last album "Männer sind Krieger".(Men are warriors).....keep on writing! Thanks!!!!!!

Dear Mr Cornwell, I accidentally discovered your Sharpe books after buying Sharpe's Havoc at a Railway Station and am now working my way through them all, "though not necessarily in the right order!". I am especially indebted to you for Sharpe's Trafalgar which gave me the most vivid and realistic impression I have ever come across of just how bloody and violent sea-borne warfare was at the time. A cracking story, too. Congratulations and Many Thanks. Keep up the good work! Regards Chris Palin
Way back in the 80's I picked up Sharpe's Company in the local Library. I was Hooked . I had to find the earlier books and devoured them. You have given me immeasurable pleasure and sparked a real interest in History. I have every one of your books ( I bet you have heard that a few times ) and a couple are signed. I even have a figurine of Sharpe. All I wanted to say was Thank you so much for the reading pleasure that your books have provided. Eric Morgan
