Mr.Cornwell, I originally visited your website to ask about further Starbuck novels-if there were going to be any and when! I've read your answer to that,so thank you. I also want to tell you that you're my favourite author and that I've been reading your books since I was a teenager,(over 20 years ago). My Dad,(who unfortunately is no longer here),first introduced me to Sharpe. Before that I'd limited myself, completely,to Fantasy novels. I'm in the library and my time is running out,so a couple of things before I go:-I'm loving the books of Uhtred, those and the Starbuck novels are my 2 favourite series written by you! I really do hope that 1 day you'll continue with the Starbuck Chronicles. Thank you for reading this. Richard Thomas

Q

Dear Mr. Cornwell, I am a Rabbi in Los Angeles. I order your Arthur books form England because they appear so much sooner than in US. Just completed 'The Burning Land.' There is no need to respond; I am simply grateful for the vividness and grace (ok, along with the brutality and sensuality) with which you bring history alive. Appreciatively, David Wolpe

Hello, I ran across The Last Kingdom on my own bookshelf- I have no idea how it got there. Being an ex-pat in Spain, books in English are highly valued and swapped frequently. I think it had been there for a year- ignored because I'm not into modern or pulp fiction and it looked like yet another book that was bought in an airport or news stand. One day I picked it up- I had nothing else. I loved it. Two weeks later, I'm halfway through the Lords of the North and am awaiting more books from Amazon.co.uk. Thank you for the research and the love that you put into your writing. A good story teller becomes part of their audience's lives, memories and imaginations. Thank you for the gift of your stories. Best wishes, Willow

Q

Dear Mr Cornwell, Until I saw who was going to script and direct your novel Azincourt I was very excited at the prospect of seeing the story come to life. The reason for my trepidation is not that it will fall short on detail or stay faithful (as far as is possible) to your novel but is due to the fact that I passed on 'The Tudors' because the production techniques used were so awful. By that I mean undue close ups, shaky camera work, quick cut and any number of other 'right on' techniques that seem to be viewed as cutting edge these days. I do not know what editorial control you have in this regard but I just want you to know that a fervent fan of your stories is unlikely to go and see the film if it follows the same production style as The Tudors. I am an older fan I admit but I will say in my defence that people of all ages that I speak to do not like the jump cut way of making programmes and that includes young as well as old. I am not looking for a reply to this e-mail, I am just an admirer of your work who wanted to express a concern. Thank you for taking the time to read this e-mail. Yours, Dennis Young

Q

Mr Cornwell. I would like to congratulate you on your fantastic novel, Azincourt being made into a film. The book was definitely the best I have ever read and I am very much looking forward to the film. Will be interesting to see how it turns out on screen as apposed to how the imagination builds the characters and events. Nathaniel Banks

Q

Thank you for your time at the tank museum. It was a great evening and thank you for signing my books. I am looking forward to your next book about the American Revolution. Regards, Steve Allan

Q

Sir, I must tell you that I only discovered your writing about 5 yrs ago. A friend of mine lent me Sharpe's Company while in Iraq, I was hooked from that moment on. While in Iraq I read every one of the Sharpe's series. I only wish I had bought the hard cover editions. My son is now enjoying them, but utterly destroying them. I should also tell you that in the 5 yrs I have since read everything you have listed on the site, with the exception of the 5th book of the Saxon series. Coincidently, it releases here in the US when I am set to deploy back to Iraq. Now to the real reason for this email. I have just finished with the Nathaniel Starbuck series........for the love of God....get off of your lazy butt and finish the series. lol. Thank you for your time and your incredible novels Sincerely SFC Michael Smith

Your writing has pulled me away from the sci-fi genre, nice contrast by the way, and is entertaining to read. Almost as if the printed page has special effects embedded. If you don't know of Mark Knopfler, once of the band 'Dire Straits', you should give his music a listen. He has recorded ballads set to the wars and conflicts that you write about. Thanks for the read, your writing is a pleasant way to escape from the drag of day to day life. Tom

Thanks - I'll take a listen.

Q

Dear Mr Cornwell Thankyou so much for the wonderful talk at the Tank Museum I so enjoyed it. It was very witty and informative, Especially the "bloody frogs" I wish there had been more time to talk to you at the book signing but I did manage to ask you where you got the inspiration for Uhtred, my fav character. I wanted to tell you how much I had enjoyed Azincourt. It is so colourfully written I felt like I was in the midst of the fighting up to my neck in blood and guts! I am about to start the Burning Land and cannot wait to see what happens to Uhtred. Also looking forward to the next one that you mentioned. Thank you again for a wonderful evening and I shall treasure my books that you kindly signed. Be assured they will NOT be put on ebay. Kind regards Helen Powell Wimborne Dorset.

Hi Bernard, Thank you so much for your patience in signing all my books at the Tank Museum last Thursday evening. I am now the proud owner of all your books apart from the early stand alone thrillers - What chance of finding an original " A Crowning Mercy"? The Burning Land is brilliant. It's a shame Uhtred has to have a holiday before the next instalment. Looking forward already to the new American Revolution story - If it's half as good as Redcoat it'll still be fab. Please don't retire any time soon - Messrs Iggulden and Scarrow are good, but not a patch on the master. Thanks to our wonderful Highways people, I got to the Tank Museum just as you were taking the final question from the audience. It's Friday evening, and I think I'll set off now for Warwick Castle just in case!! With all good wishes Andy Green
