I read The Burning Land in one sitting...and I am going to read it again! I am so happy to be a part of Uhtred's life again! My wife is tired of hearing about Uhtred, however---I often bring him up with sarcastic enthusiasm when we are making decisions and going through our daily life. I had slacked off a bit, but I am in full "Fate is Inexorable" mode once again! I've been a fan of yours only for about seven or eight years now, but in that time I have read every book you've offered, and although I have my favorites, I love them all. That being said&.Derfel has been passed by Uhtred and finds himself in second place! About "The Burning Land" : In the previous novel, I felt Uhtred getting old and perhaps even tired...I felt like the story of his life would continue, but that it was slowing at too fast a pace. THANK YOU for ending that pessimistic view of mine! Uhtred is back, and although the Spinners often amuse themselves at his expense, weaving dark and brittle threads, he is as much alive as he was when he met Ubba Lothbrokson by the sea! I must tell you once again that your books have and continue to bring joy and adventure into my life. I appreciate them all, and look forward to the next!

Hi Bernard, I was never a big or good reader until I started reading your books. Now I read all the time. 10 of your books to date and hope to one day to have them all. I really love the way you write and your stories are the best. I like the Sharpe books. I watched Sharpe on the TV, have seen most of them now. Warmest regards Laurie.

I have been an avid fan of yours for years and would like to thank you. Our 30 year old son was not really a reader until we gave him 2 of your books for Christmas and he is now a voracious reader. It has created a real bond between us as we now have something in common. It has educated him in a way that school never did and inspired him to learn. Thanks again!Love your books!

Dear Mr Cornwell, I am 23 years old and have recently finished Sharpe's Waterloo. What a fantastic read. I am now in the process of reading your books in order and they are brilliant. I have never been interested in this time period, but now I cannot get enough. They have got my imagination flowing. It has also made it easier for my girlfriend as she now knows the best Christmas presents will be some of your books. I just wanted to say thank you, and I look forward to reading all your books. Hello, just want to say thanks for the great books. I don't know if you have a lot of female readers, but I just love a good adventure/history tale. Thank you!

Dear Mr. Cornwell, I had the good fortune of being in London on 1 October and at 0900, I was was banging on the door of Waterstones at Trafalgar Square, imploring the poor clerk to hurry up and unlock the door! Immediately after purchasing The Burning Land, I greedily devoured it in two days. Fantastic read! So, is it too soon to request the sequel? Please don't torture me for another two years between novels! Your most devoted fan from Maryland without red, springy hair - Elizabeth

Good evening, I simply want to let you know how much I've enjoyed your writings. I've now read the Saxon series and enjoyed it tremendously. My wife and I listened to Agincourt on our drive from Fort Lauderdale to Scottsdale and it too was wonderful. I've just returned from Borders where I've picked up The Archer's Tale, Vagabond and Heretic. I'm a bit of history buff and have a special interest in the middle ages. At the risk of repeating myself, your books are a joy to read and I look forward to the next installment of the Saxons.

Dear Mr. Cornwell, I've just finished reading The Pale Horseman. There were a few points in the book that were so powerful, I found myself going back and allowing myself the pleasure of re-reading them. The ending was simply incredible. You know it's a great book when you close it up at the end and just stare at it for awhile. Since this is only my second book of yours, I now happily have a long reading list to work through. Bravo!
