I have only recently discovered your books and have enjoyed them immensely,so much so that I have just read the Arthur Books for the second time this year. I seldom read books twice, but these certainly warranted my attention. I have read several other Authors of the same genre, however none have captured my attention as yours have. I am now contacting my Library here in Toronto, Ontario and in the process of wearing out my card tracking down your books. At 51, you have helped to rekindle an interest I had many years ago in Arthurian Legend, only now I don't have to use a flashlight to read, and I can stay up all night if I want. However my wife might say something about it!!!! Thank you, and now I will have to figure what to read next. Mike

Dear Mr Cornwell. My elder brother bought me the Arthur books for my 23rd birthday and just wanted to say that how much I enjoyed reading them. I am now plowing through the saxon stories which I am enjoying just as much. I am eagerly waiting for "The Burning Land" by which point I should have finish the remaining two. Colin

Mr. Cornwell: I just wanted to take a moment and say thank you for your work and the hours upon hours of reading that you have given me. Having a history degree, I am always impressed with your accuracy and in many cases look forward to the historical reference notes in the back of your books as I do the actual story. I have thoroughly enjoyed Alfred's Wessex and look forward to the new book coming out...However Nathaniel Starbuck is and will be always my favorite character of yours. Feel free to drop everything your doing and write an addition to the Chronicles anytime! LOL. Thank you again.

Brian

Dear Bernard,I have just finished the Grail Quest trio & Azincourt,& enjoyed them immensely.Having visited both Crecy & Azincourt battlefields I find you have brought the battles to life & made my visits seem as if I was there on those historic days.Thank you for your splendid historical "fiction".I am now starting the Arthur books.Sincerely yours,Tony Alexander,Norwich,Norfolk.

Q

I just wanted to say how much I enjoy your books. As a bookseller, I have often recommended your books to customers, having especial success with 'Winter King' and 'Azincourt'. I love the way you really capture the feel of the time in which your books are set, and its obvious you do a lot of research on the periods covered. I have always been interested in Medieval history, but your books have inspired me to read up on other periods - I started reading up on the Napoleonic Wars after reading Sharpe, and the American Civil War after reading the Starbuck Chronicles. So I just wanted to say how much I enjoy reading your work. And I'm sure many other people have picked up on this, but your character Colonel Lassan from the Starbuck Chronicles is Sharpe's son?

Jon Hing

A

Yes, Lassan is Sharpe's son (you can read a little more about this in the short story 'Sharpe's Ransom' found in the 'Sharpe's Christmas' short story book). Thanks for recommending me to your customers.

Dear Sir, I am graduated from McGill University in Montreal in 1978 with a degree in History - and although I've never worked in the field, it has always been what fascinates and inspires me. Your books are wonderful! They are thrilling and insightful and I enjoy every one thoroughly! Thank you for them and for the adventure and history they teach. There is no greater drama then that which our Ancestors created. Sincerely M. Samantha Martel

Q

Dear Mr. Cornwell, I asked you a question about two years ago regarding why you believed the British infantry was so effective. You were kind enough to respond with your theory about the relationship between the officers and their men, and I was able to explore that idea in more depth for my Master's thesis. I just wanted to thank you for your time and input. I really appreciate it. Thank you for your work. I always look forward to everything you write!
