Mr. Cornwell: I have read all of your books and am looking forward to the next one in The Saxon Stories--"The Burning Land". I am currently reading the The Sharpe Books for the fourth time. The first time I read them by publish date and the last three times by chronological order. Each time I read them I find more to savor. You must be wondering if I have more to do in life-----actually I do, but the ability to lose myself in your books is so relaxing. Thank you.

Hi, your Arthur books are a masterpiece as they are. I'm glad you aren't going to add to them.Your other books are quite good as well. Ken

Q

Dear Bernard, I'm an Australian currently residing in Denmark. I have recommended many of your books to my Danish colleagues, in particular The Saxon Stories, with commendable feedback. Before I began reading your books I was oblivious to any British history throughout the Dark and Middle Ages. Now I have this entirely newfound interest in this period of time and cannot stop reading about it. I even spend my holidays in the UK visiting significant historical sites when I could be surfing and chatting up good-looking women along the southern coast of France, haha. I have read all your books and applaud every single one. Keep up the good work. Wyrd bi ful aræd. PS - Any plans in the future to drop by Copenhagen for a promo? Brgds, Rohan.

Copenhagen's not on the schedule this year, but maybe in the future??? Thanks for your message!

Q

Dear Mr. Cornwell I just finished reading Agincourt, my first book of yours. To be honest I had never heard of you and stumbled across your book in the public library. As a student of history, I immensely enjoyed the book, how informative it was and the amount of research and thought that had gone into it. I would suggest writing more books set in the middle ages since there is a paucity of historical novels set in that era. Great work on Agincourt, keep on writing. Sincerely, Sukumar R. Iyer

Q

I came across the Saxon stories by pure accident and fell in love with the main character Uhtred. And the way that Tom Sellwood tells the story truly brings the characters to life. I am now listening to Sword Song and this story is just as strong however, Mr. Doyle does not do the characters justice. I love these books and they help pass my long hours of driving every week but please bring Tom Sellwood back for the next book. Mr. Doyle is a wonderful story teller but, the voice of Sellwood is the voice of Uhtred. Thank you for this great series. Tammy Ricklic-Boland North Richland Hills Texas

I have no control over the narrators for the audio books, but I'm happy to pass your comments along.

Q

Mr. Cornwell - I love historical novels - Hornblower series, Bolitho series. At 55 (I'm ashamed to say) I've just read my first Cornwell book (The Last Kingdom) and I am hooked - HOOKED. I'm delighted at the number of books that await me and I hope you continue to be way ahead of me. BTW, I've never written an email like this to anyone before. I'm sure it's a common experience for you, but it's a unique pleasure for me. Steve Giblin Long Island, NY

Thanks for writing!

Q

Bernard I would like to say thank you. I started reading your books whilst deployed to Afghanistan with the RAF, as you can imagine it was not the best place to be, reading your books for the first time was a revelation, it was an addiction I was transported to various times through history as I read nearly all your works. Thank you for your genius that made my time more enjoyable. Darren Culley

Q

Dear Mr. Cornwell, I am, as you probably are yourself, obsessed with history, and having Scandinavian and Frisian ancestry I have very much enjoyed reading your Saxon series, after discovering a first edition copy on the book shelf of a deceased English friend, I have since read both sequels, and am just starting to read Sword song. As you dedicate your novel to Aukje in Dutch, I must, alas, inform you that it is not ''mit liefde'' but ''met liefde'', I am a Dutchman by nationality, and not as thick as those Dutch chaps that blow up that one cannon on in France at Soissons I believe it was?? so i would just like to inform you of this small error, but it just seems a bit messy to me. Furthermore, I would like to salute you on your knowledge of Germanic history and language, you probably get praise all the time, so I'll stop it now. Thank you for your great stories, they continue to inspire me. Yours truly, Frederik Salomons

Thank you.

Q

Hi Mr. Cornwell, I just wanted you to know that my brother kept speaking of your Saxon chronicle books till I a woman decided to order the first book in the series. I loved it. It was fantastic. You totally blew me away. The best part is that when you described certain parts in the book, I could actually see it. I could see Uhtred speaking to Ragnar's father (The blind man) etc. I felt like I was there if you know what I mean. I really thought I was watching the history channel and learning a lot about the ways of the Danes etc. Your descriptions are just amazing if you know what I mean. I feel like I am there. Now I am almost done with the second book "The Pale Horseman" and soon to start "The Lords of the North." I am also listening to one of your oldest novels on Audio: Stonehenge. You have become a new favorite of mine and I will have to try the Grail Quest and maybe even the Arthur books as well. My twin Brother was wonderful to mention your name. I just wanted you to know. As a matter of fact, I live in Massachusetts. Small world don't you think? Have a great day and happy writing.

Yannie

Dear Mr Cornwell, I live in Athens, Greece, and I would like to congratulate you for your excellent work! In fact, it is the first time I enjoy so much reading historical novels with settings so accurate in history terms! Although an economist, I study as a hobby ancient to crusades times arms and armour.I prefer the Saxon Chronicles, however I enjoyed very much the Arthurian Saga, too. At present I read the "Heretic" and I wait for the next book of the saxons. The older - chronologically- the better...Please keep writing for the pleasure of all of us who like historical novels!!
