Dear Mr.Cornwell, I'm a 13 year old, I absolutely love the Sharpe Series, my favourite character is Patrick Harper. You are by far my favourite author and I can't stop reading your books. I just wanted to let you know how much I enjoy them.

Thanks Peter! It was great to hear from you!

I feel silly writing an email with no real content (feel free to hit delete now) but your books are fantastic. I don't know what it is with me and the Napoleonic wars but Forester, O'Brien and you are tops. I have read others but they haven't come close. I like the Arthur and Starbuck as well and, as a native of Massachusetts, I am thinking I need to start doing some research myself because there are good stories a plenty there to to be told. Anyway, the whole point of this pointless email is that you have very solid (in a non-creepy way) fans out there who place a value on your works far in excess of the cover price--which I am more than happy to pay. oh, and for god's sake, please get your publisher to improve your Australian distribution--its almost impossible to get them here and hard to justify trips to the US to the wife! :-) seriously, love your books, you're a fantastic writer. keep developing Sharpe and your other characters.

Hi again Bernard--Forgot to mention in my earlier email how much I enjoyed Agincourt. It was the first of your books that I read, and made it imperative for me to then read all the Grail Quest novels and the Saxon Stories. I then started with the Sharpe series. Haven't read a bad Cornwell book yet! Keep them coming, please. Thanks. Ron

Q

I would to thank you for writing Burning Land. I really enjoy the Saxon Stories. Ever since I visited York in 2003, I always been interested in the history of the Danes in England.

It is not often that I contact sites and comment but having just enjoyed another 2 of your books (Crowning Glory and Fallen Angels), I felt compelled to write as I was on the site to check for any other books that I haven't yet read. I was introduced to your books after seeing Sharpe on TV and decided to read the Sharp books. I have never really been very history minded and not really a great reader but I have found that reading your books has brought history to life and I really enjoy the way that you intermingle your characters with actual historical events and I have learnt a lot of things along the way. Your historical notes are interesting and I like the way that you apologise for taking slight liberties (as with the capture of the Eagle by Sharpe). My husband and I have read almost all of your books and thoroughly enjoyed all that we have read.

Hey Mr.Cornwell I am Kurtis from London Ontario Canada. I serve the 124th Royal Canadian Regiment in Afghanistan and while I was there I read your Saxon series books 3 times over and await the last one. My dad also reads the books. I just want to say you are a amazing writer and receiving a email from you would be a honor. I also want to quickly say that my grandpa used to work in Hollywood as a film critic and a film "crystal ball". Basically he would rate a movie's chances of making it big. He read your Saxon Series books and said that if you were to make it into a movie in the way Lord of the Rings was made into one, You would become famous in the movie world and rival that of Lord of the Rings, he also said if you do make a movie about it, stick to the story line and don't veer off into something the producers say would be better. And format it like Lord of the Rings did, in a great motion picture. Let me know if you have plans on making a movie, because it would be awesome if you did. Respectfully, Kurtis Lindenfield.

I'm not a filmmaker, so it's really up to someone else to do it. I'd be happy to see my books turned into film, but I really don't spend much time thinking about it. I've always thought I make my living by putting words on pages, not pictures on screens. But thank you for your comments!

Dear Mr. Cornwell: Im hoping youll respond to another teacher named Lee this week! I teach history and English at a high school on Grand Manan Island in the Bay of Fundy. I bought The Last Kingdom in 2005 (because the cover caught my eye!) and Ive read all the books in that series as they came out plus all of your historical fiction series. Im currently working my way through Sharpe (Im up to Sharpes Honour). I have to say Starbuck is my favourite and put in a plea for you to return to Nates story. Im writing with a comment and a thank you. Teaching history I try my best to present as unbiased a view as possible to my students. As a proud Canadian Im frequently annoyed at the way some American and British sources discount the role of Canada on D-Day. When reading Redcoat I was pleased to note the care you took to present both the British and American perspectives. I also want to thank you for helping me to get my students to read. I have three students in my grade eleven English class currently reading your novels: two the Alfred series and one the Grail Quest. One of these boys is a reader but the other two havent enjoyed reading--until now. The boy reading the Grail Quest told me hes never finished a book before (funny-- I assign a novel study each term!). The other former non-reader has been working his way through Alfred and started Sword Song on Monday. Hes been reading it at every opportunity including in his journalism class. My colleague, the journalism teacher (who is reading the Alfred series too), says hes given up telling him to put it away. Thank you for your help with my English class. Im eagerly awaiting The Burning Land! Sincerely, Joey Lee

Thank you! Please pass along my best wishes to your grade 11 English class!

Dear Mr.Cornwell, I am a 22 year old college student who bumbles his way through writing. You will always be the goal to which I aspire to. I've read many of your books and loved all so far. The Saxon novels and The Arthur books are my person favorites. I've read many books on Arthur but yours blew them all away. Uhtred is, in my opinion, one of the greatest characters I have ever read. I quote his lines to friends and recommend these books constantly. Foolishly, I like to think of myself as Uhtred. I am taller than most men, long haired, wear Thor's hammer and my free time is spent practicing with padded swords. My fiance is almost an exact match to your character Iseult. She's very small, elf like, dark haired and beautiful. She has always been a lover of the stars and silver. No, I am not trying to be Uhtred. I've been like this since before I read the Saxon novels, you just make it all so much more exciting. I don't need anything from you. I don't ask for books or favors or want to show you anything. What I want, is to tell you that I love your writing more than any other. I care nothing for movie stars or singers. Given the choice, I would rather spend an hour in a pub with you, talking about writing, over weeks with any celebrity. Forgive my lengthy email. If you gave me your time by reading this, I thank you. It is an honor to read your novels and be a hopeless suck up to you. I am so tempted to ask you questions, because I am dying to hear from you. However, I did say that I don't need anything from you. So, I leave it to your wisdom. I need to be quiet and end this, otherwise I will end up dithering like a giddy schoolgirl. Dear Sir, I have unfortunately had to undergo back surgery recently, this has put me out of action for a while which has had the benefit of letting me read for enjoyment for the first time since I left the RN in 1984. My wife has scoured the charity shops in Yeovil and supplied me along with other authors the Thomas of Hookton Grail Series and the Saxon stories. This has driven her up the wall as I have effectively read them back to back. I finished the last one a couple of days ago and now am looking for the Azincourt book. I note from the précis of the book that it features Nick Hook. If this isn't a relative of Thomas please please do a follow up book of Heretic. I believe both the Earl of Northumberland and the King owe him a sign of gratitude even if he has made the 'Grail' disappear I am sure the south of Dorset needs a new Lord or someone to take control over the Wareham to Weymouth area, especially if policing then was as miss and hit as it is now. I ramble on. Can I just say I have thoroughly enjoyed these 2 series of books and it is a shame the writing process takes so much time. Best wishes. Simon Vokes

A

Nick is not a relative of Thomas. I'm glad to know you've enjoyed the Grail Quest series. I'm not planning a follow-up to Heretic now, but who knows? Never say never.... Hope your back is feeling better!

Q

Hi, I am from Brazil and a great fan of yours! I have your The Grail Quest and now I am buying the Saxon Stories, I think you are one of the greatest writers that I have seen, you are my second favorite just above Tolkien, well I think is some kind of honor, right? Thank you for your great books! Its a shame that here in Brazil they get so many low of your books. Thank you one more time, and sorry for my bad English, I was so excited when I discovered a way to send you some msg! LoL Tks!
