Hey Mr.Cornwell I am Kurtis from London Ontario Canada. I serve the 124th Royal Canadian Regiment in Afghanistan and while I was there I read your Saxon series books 3 times over and await the last one. My dad also reads the books. I just want to say you are a amazing writer and receiving a email from you would be a honor. I also want to quickly say that my grandpa used to work in Hollywood as a film critic and a film "crystal ball". Basically he would rate a movie's chances of making it big. He read your Saxon Series books and said that if you were to make it into a movie in the way Lord of the Rings was made into one, You would become famous in the movie world and rival that of Lord of the Rings, he also said if you do make a movie about it, stick to the story line and don't veer off into something the producers say would be better. And format it like Lord of the Rings did, in a great motion picture. Let me know if you have plans on making a movie, because it would be awesome if you did. Respectfully, Kurtis Lindenfield.

I'm not a filmmaker, so it's really up to someone else to do it. I'd be happy to see my books turned into film, but I really don't spend much time thinking about it. I've always thought I make my living by putting words on pages, not pictures on screens. But thank you for your comments!

I feel silly writing an email with no real content (feel free to hit delete now) but your books are fantastic. I don't know what it is with me and the Napoleonic wars but Forester, O'Brien and you are tops. I have read others but they haven't come close. I like the Arthur and Starbuck as well and, as a native of Massachusetts, I am thinking I need to start doing some research myself because there are good stories a plenty there to to be told. Anyway, the whole point of this pointless email is that you have very solid (in a non-creepy way) fans out there who place a value on your works far in excess of the cover price--which I am more than happy to pay. oh, and for god's sake, please get your publisher to improve your Australian distribution--its almost impossible to get them here and hard to justify trips to the US to the wife! :-) seriously, love your books, you're a fantastic writer. keep developing Sharpe and your other characters.

Hi again Bernard--Forgot to mention in my earlier email how much I enjoyed Agincourt. It was the first of your books that I read, and made it imperative for me to then read all the Grail Quest novels and the Saxon Stories. I then started with the Sharpe series. Haven't read a bad Cornwell book yet! Keep them coming, please. Thanks. Ron

Q

I would to thank you for writing Burning Land. I really enjoy the Saxon Stories. Ever since I visited York in 2003, I always been interested in the history of the Danes in England.

I can't tell you just how much I enjoy reading your books! I can't wait til your next book following Uhtred, comes out!! I live in Edinburgh and was on holiday in Northumberland. Highlight of the holiday? A visit to Bamburgh Castle! All the best, Liz

Q

Bernard, hi I have read all Sharpe books and watched all the Sharpe films...don't take this the wrong way but I believe that the Sharpe films have been so crudely made and so distant from the actual books that they are a joke! Your books are fantastic and I so hope you keep up with Sharpe. Thank you for your time, sir. Lt Dunne

Q

Hi Bernard Avid reader of your books for over 10 years. In reference to the question - Can you recommend any good books about King Henry & Eleanor of Aquataine? Thank you. Natalie Powers - Sharon Penman covered this era one of the books is called When Christ and His Saints Slept.

Thanks for the recommendation Geoff!

Dar Mr Cornwell, I have only just discovered your books starting with the Grail Quest series and am now reading the Sharpe series. A great read and I look forward to working my way through them ( I discovered a DVD of the Sharpe series at my local library when I went to get a new book this weekend so I'm looking forward to an indulgent weekend!) Sincerely, Graeme Smith

Mr. Cornwell - Longtime fan - MANY business trips with your books stuffed in my briefcase and luggage to get me through interminable flights and hotels. Happened to re-read the Starbuck series (as I do all your books!) and again realized I'm dying to go past Antietam! Read your explanation about similarities to Sharpe - and understand - but am dying to see Blythe taken out, Potter developed, Truslow survive, 'Pecker' returned, Swynyard succeed, etc., etc. And it HAS been a LONG time (1996)!?!? Just wanted to put in one more vote in your consideration. In the meantime, DO also love the Saxon Stories. Hope you write for another 50 years! Regards, John Palmer Nantucket

Thank you for the pleasure you have given me from reading your books.I particularly like the Arthur series and have just finished Agincourt. The detail brings the experience to life and has returned me to reading. I avidly await your new book.I will be honest though and say that the Sharpe books do nothing for me..sorry. Keep up the good work and thank you. regards Alec Chick (Somerset England)

sorry if I have offended you. As I said your work has given me a great deal of pleasure. I guess I have a specific historical interest. Best regards. Alec

A

No offence taken! Glad to know you enjoyed Agincourt.
