Mr. Cornwell, I just want to say thank you. I have read your Sharpe series, Warlord Arthur series, and I am just about to finish Sword Song of the Saxon series. Your writing is simply masterful. You provide enough information about the setting and mentality during the time periods without providing so much information that the reader becomes bored. For instance, you explain what it must have been like when paganism and christianity were clashing. You also create the characters in such a way that the reader not only understands their personalities, but the reader develops strong opinions regarding them (favorite likeables: Father Pyrlig, Ragnar, and Patrick Harper; those I love to hate: Hakeswill, Ethelred, Lancelot). It is very evident in your books that you truly enjoy your work, and I am extremely grateful. Please keep up the great work, and thank you for the hours of entertainment and education. Sincerely, Justin Davis

I enjoy reading and listening to your books very much. They are a great way to get into historical times. As a result, my husband, Loren, and I are going to go on the Oct. '09 Badajoz tour. In appreciation of your research and good writing, many thanks, Rachel PS we're in the movie biz, thus totally understand your comments about scripts, etc. as practical.

Have a great time!

Bernard, I just wanted to say that I have been reading your books since 1981 and have thoroughly enjoyed them all. You have given me a lot of pleasure and I thank you very much. Right now I am reading the Saxon novels and I must say they are as good as the Sharpe novels. Looking forward to he next one. Cheers, Peter.

Just a quick note to say I love your books. I discovered Sharpe first, then the medieval ones, have now found a couple of your thrillers & Excalibur - you're a man of many talents indeed! I've just returned to uni to do honours in history, with the aim of writing historical non-fiction that will appeal to the general public. I have written fiction for years, but until recently had problems with the concept of sending them away! I'm now doing a rewrite of a medieval romance which I feel may have a real chance of publication. The sheer number of quality books you've written serve as an inspiration to me. I intend taking your advice about writing - one of the books I dissect will definitely be yours, probably a Sharpe. My motives are similar too - I'm in love with a Canadian & to live there I need an independent means of providing income. (He wouldn't agree but I'm old-fashioned enough to insist.) Thank you for many hours of reading enjoyment. Regards, Jennie Reid

Best of luck to you Jennie!

Dear Mr. Cornwell: My family emigrated from Glasgow to Hamilton, Ontario when I was 12. I was quite shy and had a difficult time adjusting. As a result, I used to read as an escape from the world as I knew it and didn't like one bit. I drifted into historical fiction with authors such as Zane Grey, C. S. Forester and many others. I then grew up and got married, raised two daughters and had a busy career which did not allow me time to read as much as I liked. I retired in March 2007 and last year I discovered you. I have now read the Starbuck Chronicles, The Arthur books, the Grail Quest, The Saxon Stories and I cannot remember, since I was newly arrived in Canada, a time when I enjoyed reading as much. I just had to write and let you know how much I am enjoying your work. Once I read Stonehenge I am going to embark on the Sharpe Books. This should keep me going for another year so please, please keep writing and I would love to see another book of the Starbuck Chronicles. All the best, Bill

Q

Just wanted to tell you how much I've enjoyed reading your books especially the Saxon Stories which I am currently rereading. The Heretic was fabulous and I just got Agincourt but have yet to pry it away from my wife. Thanks, Keith

Q

I just finished reading Excalibur... Simply dramatic. I thank you so much for the emotions your book gave me, especially at Mount Baddon and Camlann: for years I haven't read anything which made me move like that! The description of the battles are enormous, I can't find any other word to express my feeling, but I'm quite sure you can understand what I mean. Regards from Italy.

Marco

Q

Dear, Mr. Cornwell I am sure you get very many letters exactly like this! So I apologize for making you read one more. I would just like to say that reading your books has completely opened my life into reading books, I have read all of your books, most several times each, and you are by far my favorite author. I am an American, but when I last traveled to England, I discovered your books in the airport, and ever since then I have been hooked! Thank you for all the times i wasn't bored because I had a great book to read! I dread the day when you write your last book, and hope it doesn't come for a long time!
Jared

Q

What a splendid and thrilling story - the harsh brutality of the time coming alive as no other book I've ever read - this, I think, is your best book to date, a triumph!!
