About time somebody wrote about Azincourt, to which I think is the greatest victory in English history. Have the book but saving it for my holiday, can't wait.

Dear Bernard, I have just bought Azincourt and am looking forward to another good read !!! I was hoping for another book in the Saxon Stories, or dare I say it, the Starbuck Chronicles. Both series seem to have left the main characters with unfinished business. I hope there are more to come in both series - I particularly want to hear more about Uhtred. Please put me out of my suspense !!! With best wishes, John

Like many I really enjoy your writing and think the title 'Britain's storyteller' suits you well. I love History, especially of this sceptered isle and your novels make it live and encourage others to do the same. My son was never much of a reader, until introduced to your novels, the Sharpe series. He then introduced me to the Warlord Chronicles, the finest yet. I'm glad they are your favourites and agree they would make a fantastic film. Reassurance to the girl who had a crush on Galahad, he did have a lover Leanor, one of the Harpist's who died in the first winter after the fall of Ynes Trebes. Perhaps a reason he never loved again? A noble character. Looking forward to the next Uhtred book, visited Bamburgh for the first time after starting this series, fantastic area. Colin Morris

Q

I don't like half finished stories and it is 12 years since your last Starbuck book. Please write some more!

Just wanted to say that I've been a fan of Richard Sharpe and Harper for over 10 years. I also enjoyed the Starbuck series as I am big American Civil War buff. Please try to write another episode for Nathan. Fredericksburg should be the next major encounter for the Army of Northern Virginia. Thank you, John W. Burke

Q

Dear Bernard...where do I start!? How is it possible to have such a mind as yours, to be able to write books that contain an element of fiction and yet to hold such researched truths, and still become so believable...how is that possible for a human mind!? Having read all of your books, I must blame you Mr Cornwell for stirring my passion for history so much that following the Arthur series I bought two Swords and took up lessons! (purely for enjoyment I might add!) After reading the Thomas of Hookton series I bought a traditional English long bow and took up field Archery! And now having finished the Sharpe's series I have joined a rifle club! I dread what you might write next!! But thankyou thankyou for the enjoyment you have given me over the years!! I must finish with one more issue! Why oh why oh why, do film companies and BBC continue to produce absolute rubbish in the form of Robin Hood Films, Arthur films etc etc when all they would need to do would be to follow your books and bring them to film! It's that simple!! Simon

Q

Hello Sir, looking forward to Azincourt being released in Canada. I notice the other day a new edition of the Sharpe Novels in trade paperback being released with Sean Bean on the cover. I like Sean Bean as Sharpe however when I look back on the first editions I miss the artwork. It's one of the things I remember from my boyhood.

For a good video set to music with Sean Bean as Sharpe try this link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a74-y8Rl4C0. cheers, Ed Whelan, Canada.

If you ever consider having someone put Uhtred of Bebbanburg on the TV screen, I would recommend Dennis Quaid for the role. There's no British accent, but he'd be a dandy.

Q

I have just recently read the third book of the Grail Quest series (Heretic) and , it being the first book of yours I've ever read I liked it very much . Trying to find more of your works , I let my fingers resort to the internet and found you had a whole catalogue of books under your belt and I am still trying to acquire another one. I just wanted you to know that you now have another fan.

Mr. Cornwell, I majored in History in college 30 years ago and am an avid reader, especially of all the 'classics'. Your books are the most entertaining I have ever read.I was a developer in Freeport, Bahamas in the late 60's and have lived in Atlanta for the past 25 years with my family. I particularly enjoyed the Starbuck series and all of the adventures , such as Crackdown, Stormchild, and am looking forward to more of your incredibly exciting sailing adventures. Your main character has depth of personality and you capture heroes and villains alike with superb authenticity. Many thank for many hours of pleasure. Barbara Cunningham
