Hi Bernard, At first I`d like to ask you to forgive my poor English. I`m from Curitiba, a city Brazil, down to the south. I`ve just wanted to write to you telling that your books are amazing. I`m just amused by how you connect history to your stories. I begin to like Arthur stories with Marion Zimmer Bradleys`s Avalon Series, but when I read your book I became addicted to it. I`ve read The Arthur Books three times and I never get tired of it. The way you have build the history based on reality and on reality and history its fascinating. It`s amazing how we get involved in the story, in the world of a warriors honor and reputation. I`m also a fan of The Saxon Stories, I`ve read two time each of the three first books and now reading the Sword Song, I just can`t stop reading. Well, I`ve just wanna give you compliments, and say the you have a great fan here in Brazil. Keep up the good work, giving us amazing stories, especially the medieval period ones.

Dear Mr Cornwell, I am planning to attend your event at Ely, Cambridgeshire, in October. I don't know if you have ever been to the cathedral there before, but if not may I say that you will be in a truly unique and magnificent setting which has been used in several films, most recently Elizabeth, The Golden Age and The Other Boleyn Girl. Oh and try to fit in a visit to the Stained Glass Museum in the cathedral. It's the only one of it's kind in the world.(No, not cos it's so dull no one else wants one :-))as my youngest child suggested! I look forward to (possibly) meeting you - my husband jokingly suggested that we bring along a chainmail shirt, as I wrote to you once concerning the weight of them and he thought you might like first hand experience, but I've managed to talk him out of it! Hope you enjoy your visit to our local City, yours sincerely, Mary Hannigan
I'm really looking forward to it! It's been far too long since I was in Ely and I promise to visit the stained-glass museum. Thanks!
Dear Bernard, Im a Brazilian fan of your books and cant wait the 5º book come to my country! We and my friends are working to bring more and more readers for yours novels, and believe, they easily come. I'd love to visit you! And perhaps it will happen . . . thank you!
Bernard, W.r.t. Dianes email of 2nd September, there have been several readers for Sharpes adventures on audiobooks. David Case (as Frederick Davidson) read most of the original stories and then the newer ones up to 1999. The late Patrick Tull did the ones published from 2000 onwards. Tull also voiced most of the Jack Aubrey books and all of the Brother Cadfael series. Both Tull and Case are fabulous at creating the different accents in the Sharpe books and I love them both. Case is continuing to do most of your newer, non Sharpe, novels. The water is somewhat muddied by a third reader, William Gaminara, best known as Doctor Locke on BBC Radio 4s The Archers. He has recorded (at least) twelve Sharpe audiobooks that had already been recorded by Case and Tull. These seem to have been recorded for a company called Chivers Audio Books an American company now owned by BBC Worldwide. I suspect that the wonderful accents of Tull and Case were too realistic and so Gaminara was hired to redo them for the US market with to my ear rather bland accents. If one has a choice, I very much recommend the recordings by Patrick Tull and David Case (A.K.A. Frederick Davidson). Best Regards, Neil
Dear Mr Bernard let me start by saying that I first started reading you books only this year! I am extremely overwhelmed and excited of your books and I have just finished the grail quest series and I finished reading the first two parts of the Saxon stories.Last but not least, thank you very much for providing an opportunity to make contacts with the fans and to ask you questions regarding the stories.

Mr. Cornwell, This is simply a note of thanks for what you do and more specifically, for what you have done for me. Until nearly two months ago, I am ashamed to say, I had not read a complete novel in over 15 years. Four weeks ago I started reading The Last Kingdom and 15 minutes ago completed Lord's of The North. I read a great deal as a youth, book after book, but work and life got in the way until recently. Your ability to tell a story has me dumbfounded... how do you do it? I become a part of the book and the story as I read. And do I READ... I can not put the books down once I start, because I need to know what is going to happen next, like I am going to miss something if I stop (yes, I am considered 'normal' in these parts and actually hold a decent job). When I read your work I literally laugh out loud, get all teary-eyed, or swear I can feel pain! My job requires that I read government regulations and laws, so I am not a stranger to crying when I read, but experiencing all of these emotions during a 3-4 chapter reading of your work just thrills me! At my wife Kimberly's urging, I read a book she recommended by a female writer of historical fiction. I enjoyed it, however I could not really relate to a female's writing... and that's when I set out to find an author I could relate too. Jackpot! Bernard Cornwell! I have read through your website and know that I am far from the only person who feels this way about your abilities and skill as a writer. But that can not stop me from putting my own two-cents in, because I want you to know from my own words that I appreciate your work. So far, in just three of your books, I have found many benefits. These have not just been well crafted stories told in an incredible fashion that simply overwhelms the reader with excitement and entertainment, each story has many gifts of wisdom and insight into human nature that I hope no reader misses... I have to go now, so maybe I'll write again and explain more. But even if I do not, Thank you for bringing reading back into my life! Christopher Glatz
Thank you!
Mr. Cornwell: Just wanted to say "thank you!" for writing such great novels. I just finished the first 3 Saxon Tales and am going out to find the 4th today. I've always loved history and, though I realize you're writing historical fiction, your novels certainly make the times come alive. When reading about Uhtred it is difficult not to believe that it all happened just the way you've written it. Again, thank you for such a wonderful set of works- Sharpe, The Grail Quest and all the rest. Your stories will be topping my reading list for some time to come. Best Regards and Much Thanks, Andrew Schmidt
A simple, warm, thank YOU. You provide an experience that not only reads well, but teaches as well. My only complaint is you are not prolific enough,,,more, more. I have already read them all. If your ever near Nashville,,,,dinner's on us. Bob Gildea
Dear Sir - Thank you for replying to my comments on the Bulletin Board. I believe the Town of Horton is located in Northamptonshire in the East Midlands. It would be a great honor to work it in somehow, even so slightly...Again, I thank you!
Dear Sir, I would just like to thank you for introducing me to the world of reading, I have read a few books in my time but sadly I was never much of a reader. But I have to say your books have been a turning point in that. So thanks again. Michael Huntbach
