Q

Dear Mr. Cornwell. I just finished "The Lords of the North". Fantastic in the manner of its predecessors. I can't wait for Uhtred to climb all over his filthy uncle. Uhtred rocks. He should be playing rugby for the Wallabies. We could surely use him this year. Regards, Paul Enders

A

Hell, the English need him more! Then the Welsh would recruit Derfel, and that would be the end of rugby as we know it.

Q

Dear Bernard: I discovered your work with The Saxon Tales about a year ago. Since, I have read all your works, with the exception of several of the Sharpe Novels. The historically based series (Grail Quest, Warlord Chronicles, etc.) are of greatest interest. In particular, as a Civil War buff, I have enjoyed The Nathaniel Starbuck Chronicles. It was a great disappointment that this engrossing tale was dropped with The Bloody Ground. I realize that you have numerous interests and demands on your time, but abandoning young Starbuck and your other intriguing characters in this series so early in the conflict, and without closure, has left a real sense of "unfinished business". I am satisfying my continued interest in your work with Lords of the North, however, I still yearn to follow Starbuck and his fellows to a natural conclusion. Realizing I am only one voice in a cacophony of demands on your time and talent, I still want to urge you to return to The Nathaniel Starbuck Chronicles at your earliest convenience. Thank you for your consideration. Respectfully, James E. Lange

Q

Mr. Cornwell, I am a great fan of yours from Brazil. You might be already tired of listening how much your fans admire your work, but I'll say it again! I've got no words to describe how much I enjoyed Arthur's chronicles. I was sad reading the last pages of Excalibur, I didn't want it to finish! But I'm not asking for more books in the Chronicles, it is perfect as it is! I've read also The Archer's Tale, although I'm not really keen on that History period background (Oh Catholic Church...), but the description of shoots are so vivid! I can tell, because I am an archer myself. I've just started The Last Kingdom willing to find some of the passion of Derfel, and I'm already in love with the book. Probably I won't wait the translation and buy the English books. Thank you for every single word in those stories! Soon I'll send you a Brazilian edition of The Winter King to be signed! Felipe

Q

I have listened to the audio version of The Last Kingdom, and The Pale Horseman, and I am half way thru reading Lords of the North. What a great experience it has been. I will absolutly love to hear more about Uhtred and Ragnar's stories. I think you are an incredible writer your books are so interesting, a cliché but really I cannot put the book down. Your books prompted me to do some research about this era. I really hope that the Saxon stories do not end at 3. I am also reading the Sharpe books. Eliana Barreda

A

Thank you! I am working on the fourth book of the series now. We hope to have it ready for publication by October.

Q

Recovering from a serious operation I have read most of the Sharpe books. Thanks for keeping me entertained and distracted during this time. Best Regards Bob

A

Best wishes for a speedy recovery!

Q

hi. started reading you last year with the grail quest through the local library (began with heretic! but got there in the end). absolutely loved it and since read Stonehenge & gallows thief. now on third part of warlord chronicles (best Arthurian telling I've ever read - touches on the myth but keeps it real and will almost certainly move into my all time favourite reads alongside lord of the rings, lonesome dove, to kill a mockingbird, a tale of two cities)and have Saxon stories waiting on the shelf. the advantage of discovering your work quite late is that there's loads out there to read, and i look forward at some point to tackling Sharpe in historical sequence, although probably with interruptions along the way for other diversions. anyway this is just a thank you for the books I've enjoyed up to now, and the anticipation of more to come. Donald.

Q

Quit writing. I can't put them down once I start! Thanks for the Thrillers. I am glad my reach into the nether shelves was rewarded with anticipatory nights. Kind Regards, A. Mikkelsen

Q

Mr. Cornwell, I just finished reading Sharpe's Fury. Another extraordinary novel in the series. I hope your passion and energy continue as the Sharpe series has given me many many hours of reading enjoyment. I'm being greedy here but please don't let the gap for the next adventure be as long. I look forward to Sharpe's and Harper's next battle. Dave Ottney

Q

Love your work sir. I was wondering if the Saxon Stories might be better called Uhtred Chronicles? It seems to be much more about him than Alfred. It seems you're a bit harsh on the poor old "Great" King. Great books. Keep it up. Coilean Gryffydd

Q

I just wanted to let you know how much I enjoy your work, particularly the recent Saxon books. As an American, I was unfamiliar with much of Alfred the Great's story, and am fascinated by your vivid description of the Danish invasions. Most surprising of all is how much I genuinely like Uhtred, even though he is such a brutal killer. The humor and honesty with which your protagonists view their worlds allow the reader to see history through new eyes, and for that I thank you. Can't wait for the next book!
