Hi Bernanrd. Just wanted to say I've read 90% of your books and loved all of them. Sharpe, Arthur and Saxon stories rock. Keep em' coming. Oh, and pay no attention to the person who said not to bother writing any more Sharpe books. He must be a numpty. Steve Barlow

Q

Dear Mr. Cornwell, yesterday I finished your novel "the last kingdom" (in German). I'm so fascinated by the story of Uthred and Ragnar. I simply can't wait for June, the 30th (release date of "Der weiße Reiter"). I'm sure you get many of those, in the whole, senseless messages, but wanted to say "Thank You" for this great book. Unfortunately I'm a poor student, otherwise I would buy "The Pale Horseman" in English, but it's to expensive for me. by the way sorry for my bad English. While reading the novel I was simply taken to the world of mediaeval England. If there will anytime be a film about this novel, please let me take a role in it. It doesn't matter which one. Ok I thing it's enough now. I just want to tell you, that this book was one of the best books I have ever read. Sincerely, Thomas Kuligowski

Q

Dear Bernard, I've also just finished 'The Lords of the North' and can't wait for the 4th to be released in October. I am originally from land north of the Humber but currently live in Hong Kong, where i have read all 3 of books. The familiar landscapes that you so vividly describe has somehow managed to keep me spiritually in touch with the most beautiful part(s) of England. Me and my pregnant wife return back home in July, hopefully with a healthy baby, so I'll be able to read your 4th installment to my new baby. At the moment, Alfred is the favourite name if it's a boy. One more thing. Took your advice and read Flashman. Fantastic stuff. Incredible to read such language and viewpoints. Can't work out if it would have been seen as scandalous stuff in the 60's. But I can see where Carry on up the Kyber got it's influence. All the best, Martyn

Q

Dear Mr. Cornwell, I am an enthusiastic fan of all your books. I have adopted a piece of writing in The Pale Horseman. I am hoping that you will not mind me quoting this piece as it perfectly expresses much of how I see the world of human relations myself. I cannot tell if this piece expresses how you see 10th century saxons seeing the world or some of your world view has crept in but none the less it suits me well. Anyway I usually give you credit or at least refer to it as a quote. I can't say that the people I quote it to are as excited about the concepts as I am. The piece seems to make them look puzzled, sometimes I explain sometimes not. Anyway I am very grateful that you wrote those words. Rebecca Wentworth

Quote away Rebecca!

Q

I cannot put your books down. Since I am of English/Irish/Scot/American Indian decent and a retired U.S. Navy CPO with 100% combat related disabilities, well to be honest, your writings have kept me going and to start living again. I am so glad Sharpie was not fighting in the states or I may have fought for the British "oh I have already done that!" Thanks-----murf

Q

Dear Mr. Cornwell I am a 22 year old accounting student at the John Molson School of Business in Montréal Canada. I discovered your books a little over 2 years ago when my father got a copy of Stonehenge at the library. Since then, I have been reading most of your books. I just wanted to take a few minutes to thank you for making my bus rides to school the best they can possibly be (I read your books while doing the hour and a quarter trip twice a day). I am looking forward to the next Saxon story and hope that you keep up the good work thank you once again. François Bérubé

Q

Just to say I very much enjoy the 'rattling good yarn' quality of your work, but particularly admire the way in which you establish a credible framework to explain the motivation behind the behaviour of the characters/groups/societies we meet in your novels. This is especially impressive in something like the saxon stories where it can be so difficult to understand or even postulate a coherent rationale for behaviours of a society so distant (in both time & culture) from our own. Harvey Dearden

Q

Dear Mr. Cornwell, My wife and I recently purchased the audio versions of the Last Kingdom and the Pale Horseman. How does one say thank you appropriately. Your Saxon stories are incredible. We are listening to the last few chapters of the Pale Horseman. We are so glad that The Lords of the North will continue the adventure. You have aquired 2 loyal fans. You are a true artist of your craft. We love your stories and eagerly look forward to reading your other works. We just wanted you to know how much we appreciate your work. Sincerely, Jay and Geri Peterson

Q

Just wanted to say that I finished Lords of the North, and it is by far one of my favorite books. I love Uhtred, he gets better and better with each novel. Also, I like the character of Finan, his Irish slave buddy, please let him live through some more books. As always, I really enjoy your books- please keep writing. Dave

Q

I have enjoyed your Sharpe series immensely and have been through the series twice at this point. I will admit I feel a bit let down though after the ending of Sharpe's Revenge and I hope you can find some more mischief for Richard after Chile! (I have loads of ideas of course but I know you don't need them :) Best wishes and thanks for all the good stories. Rob Fowlie
