Dear Bernard, Ive been reading your books for about 12 years now ever since my dad gave me a very battered copy of Sharpes Enemy to read inbetween sitting my GCSEs. Ive now pretty much read everything youve written my favorites being The Starbuck Chronicles, The Grail Quest and more recently The Saxon Series, Uhtred is by far my most favoite fictional charactor ever save maybe Lee Childs Jack Reacher maybe because they share some similar qualities. Anyway I would just like to say I cant wait for the next saxon book and this my sound abit morbid but every now and agian I find myself thinking that I hope you stay fit, healthy and well for a long time in to the future so that you can keep writting all theses great stories for us, I definatly want to know the end of Uhtred's story. I would also like to say that I think its great that you answer pretty much everyones questions on here, I normally log on every couple of days to see what other readers have to say and your replys always seem very up to date, with all your writting where do you find the time? I hope that I havent taken up too much of your time. Heather

Mr Cornwell - just finished Sharpes Fury! .........what can I say?! See, here's the thing.......there I am, sick, with a "flu for the ages", sweating, leaching a bouquet of different nasty fluids, wanting to go to bed, wanting to retire to the warm womb-like bliss of the crysalid that will by my bed.... - but nah, the last 100 pages of Sharpe's fury happen to me!!! Needless to say, there I am 2 hours later unable to put the book down until its very end (historical notes and all). Word of advice. Start writing books about the rehab exploits of Lindsay Lohan! Write about your nails growing on a holiday to Greece. Write about an ingrown hair at the base of your neck! Write about the time that a teller at your bank hassled you because you tried to inadvertently pass a Canadian penny for an American Penny. This would be the literary Zoloft I need to make sure I finally get a good nights sleep and a)recover from this bleeding flu, and b) make sure I don't have to super glue my eye lids to my brow to give my co workers the illusion that I am; fresh, clear, alert and ready to be a valued member of "the team". My addiction to the character of Sharpe is making me feel as though I should order my next book on a website that has a name that you would logically want to erase from your browser history so that your wife doesnt see it. That the next ordered saga would arrive at your doorstep discreetly wrapped in brown paper with only a return address listed in the upper left corner. Thank your for the fix, and hopefully many more fixes to come. Your Devoted John. Jason Chagnon
Mr. Cornwell, I recently finished your most recent book in the Saxon Stories and was wondering/hoping that there will be at least one more book in the series. Yes? Thanks, Dennis
Yes - at least several more.
I am a retired dentist in Vero Beach Fl. and an avid reader of many books on many subjects. Having read and enjoyed most of the books you have written I finally feel that I should let you know of the pleasure you have given me. Also do keep the Saxon Tales going----Very interesting--Yours I. S. Robinson
Just wanted to share my very real pleasure with you. I have loved (and continue to re-read and enjoy) the Sharpe books. The Lords of the North kept me up 'til 1:30 last night as I couldn't not find out what happened to Uthred and Ivarr before I slept. These three boks about Uthred are excellent and I am so excited as I read each. I am a professional technical writer - high school student Social Studies textbooks for Oxford University Press in Canada - so I particularly appreciate the maps, explantory and historical notes that accompany your books. Thank you for the many hours of of pleasure you have given me.

Hello Bernard Enjoyed the films immensely first time round and having got the set of DVD's for Christmas my wife now regrets the present. However, just bought the novel 'Sharpe's Tiger' and I cannot help but imagine Pete Poselthwaithe (hope it's correct) as Obadiah and Sean as Sharpe every time they have speech inserted. Brilliant! I know you say you don't want ideas but for me, a very keen Second World War man, it would be excellent to add this era for a new format as I think your research, history and geography is superb. The TV needs a new series as I'm fed up with reality tv programs and soaps. All the best Grant 33, married with 3 and have never responded to any of my favourite authors before!
Thanks, but I do prefer to stick to the more distant past.
This is the first time that I have ever written an author even though I am an avid reader. I got hooked on The Arthur Books and am now devouring the Sharpe Books. I find that when I begin reading Sharpes adventures I am transported into his world. Cliche but true. Being a retired soldier and interested in Military / UK History your books are perfect for me. This missive is a Thank You for many hours of pleasurable reading. I hope you keep writing forever. Paul Bennett Brampton,Ontario Canada
Dear Mr. Cornwell, I just finished "Lords of the North," which I found to be very enjoyable and up to your usual high standards. I have read the entire Sharpe, Starbuck, Warlord, Grail and Saxon series, as well as most of your individual novels, and have derived unmeasurable pleasure from each of them. I was therefore delighted to see that Uhtred will carry Serpentbreath in future novels as well. I look forward to them with relish. Best regards, Glenn Trost, Altadena, California
Wow, Lords of the North was your best Alfred book yet, and finally Kjartan got what he deserved.

Dear Bernard. I am one of the mostly shy person. Excuse me my english, but I used to be a student a long time ago. I am a psychologist, 26, and I live in a very small town called Cuiabá, in the state of Mato Grosso, Brasil. (far like Gawilghur for you, I think .... laugh). I just like to thank you for your books, I have just read twelve of them, specially the books of the grail quest and the sharpe´s, of course. I have to admit that it´s very easy to read, because I don´t have to read with my eyes but with my soul. I have found a lot of examples of psychological types, emotions, loves, pains and great reflexions. Congratulations. From the distant Brasil, a enormous shake of hands and (I think you are so tired of this ....)please, keep it in mind, your books and your ideas made me want to be a soldier under the Derfel´s orders, or a archer helping Thomas or even a british soldier, not just for the glory, but the redemption ..... the growing .... the courage and fear ..... the passion for the life well-lived. Congrats. Leonardy Negrini
