Good day Mr Cornwell, Just wanted to say 2 things. 1. Can't wait for Sharpe's Fury. 2. Congratulations on the OBE, a well deserved recognition of the brilliance of your writing....just don't stop now. Also, have a nice day when you visit the Palace. Darryl Haines

Dear Mr. Cornwell Love the Sharpe series very much - am so pleased that they continue! The Saxon Stories have been amazing - I can't wait to read The Lords of the North! Thank you so much for sharing your talent and your gift for tale telling with readers like me. I truly appreciate the hours of pleasure (and education!) you have given me. Sincerely Susan Swann

Hello Bernard, I would like to say a big thank you to you. I was captivated by Harlequin and the other books in the series and Principly the Character of Thomas and his mastery of the English Warbow. So much so that I have been introduced to a new and fascinating interest in Medieval archery. I now own a heavy draw weight English Yew warbow which I am slowly coming to grips with and have avidly been reading up on the subject mainly the brilliant books by Robert Hardy. If I become half as good as Thomas of Hookton then I will be a happy man!! The battle field at Crecy is top of my list of places to visit. I have a feeling this will be a lifelong interest for me and I blame it entirely on Thomas of Hookton! Thank you again and regards. Chris

Q

Dear Bernard, thanks for sticking the flesh to history's bones. Such great/unforgettable characters,Derfel,Uhtred & all. Much pathos amid backdrops of utter chaos as well as occasional moments of sheer humour. Whenever life seems tough characters in history,(real or imagined) have ways of pulling me out of the mire. Thanks Benard.Fantastic Books! Trev.

Dear sir: "It was blood and shit and guts spilled in the mud" (282). Dire stuff! I have just finished reading The Lords of the North. Sadly, I couldn't read it slowly and now I'm without anything interesting to read. I am never without a book in my hands, but it is your warrior fiction that I most love reading. The first time I read your work was when I was sick for two months and decided to read one of your Sharpe books. I ended up reading the entire series during my time off. I was even more hooked when your Arthurian series came out (the best Arthurian series I've yet to read). I am a lawyer who has, unfortunately, been on disabilty for the last two years due to global chronic pain. I read fiction and non-fiction continually as more of a meditative practice than a diversion. Looking inward helps me to ignore or rise above the pain. Your warrior fiction allows me not only this meditative function, but it also allows me to fantasize about being a warrior like Uhtred or Derfel. When I feel pain while reading your fiction, I can pretend that I'm an old warrior (38) who feels the wounds from past battles. You will undoubtedly feel compelled to write fiction without spears and swords, but I hope that you will keep the warrior stuff coming for a long time. It is simply a part of your craft that you do exceedingly well. I expect no response, I only wanted to thank you for your work. Sincerely, MK

Q

You are Uhtred, aren't you? I am descended from Alfred. I work in the great Family History Library in Salt Lake City. Makes genealogical research easy. I am also descended from Ragnar Lodbrok. I am enjoying your Last Kingdom series very much. Your historical notes are a nice touch and truly appreciated by those of us who need facts about our more illustrious ancestors. Thank you for your work. Thank you for taking time to read this. Roger Magneson

Q

Mr Cornwell, I'm glad I discovered your books. I picked up one your books (Sharpe's Havoc) in a airport book store a few years ago and to date have read seven of the series. I'm also reading the "Last Kingdom" and look forward to the "Pale Horseman and Lords of the North. I'm looking forward to reading all your books in the near future, thanks for all your great work. Mike from Arlington, Virginia.

Q

Thank you again. I`ve read the Warlord series and began the Chronicles about Uhtred: the first one I bought in Finland and second one in Spain. With those books I can not go in bed because I have to read them right away. Thank you for good stories, I will be waiting for more...Salkku
