Your Questions

Q

Mr Cornwell, I don't know if it's possible to hear too much praise for your work, but here is one more for all of your novels, but most especially the Sharpe series. As an US army officer who rose from the ranks, they are especially poignant to me. Do you ever have plans to sell a hard cover anthology of the Sharpe novels? I'm not sure if this is something that you even have control over or if it is strictly up to the publisher(s). Although I own all of the novels (and novelas), they are all in different formats and it would be nice to have them in a collection. I'm sure that there are plenty of fans who would pony up the money for a nice set of hardcovers that have 3 or 4 novels in each, in historically correct chronological order. Thank you again for many hours of reading pleasure.

Frank Sanford

A

It is up to the publishers, and they won't consider it until the series is complete (that's still a ways away!).

A

Q

Mr. Cornwell, Hello, I was just curious about The Warlord Chronicles. How did you choose the subject of Arthur and what made you go in the direction that you did with these stories? I read Excalibur several years ago some how not knowing it was part of a series and I loved it. I am just starting Winter King and so far I am really enjoying it. I believe my daughter will be reading them next. So anyways, if its not too much trouble, I would really like to know all about the books and your inspiration to write them. I would also like to thank you for writing them. :) - Jessi.

A

Well, I grew up in England and, like any child interested in history, soon encountered the mythical figure of King Arthur and so became interested in him.

Q

Bernard- Patrick Lassan's appearance in the Starbuck chronicles almost begs for a separate series on his adventures in the Crimean war. Have you, or are you considering this scenario at all? That would be a great treat for your readers I reckon. Cheers, SN

A

I've considered it, but I'm not sure if it will happen....

Q

Debbie Hakes

A

Q

I really enjoy the Sharpe series an awful lot and your other books as well. Here is my first question is it correct Sharpe dies after Sharpe Devil?

It comes down to 2 question - Sharpe challenge is it based on Sharpe tiger?

Here is my third question according to Sharpe challenge the scene where the rebels are beaten first village when Sharpe tells Harper that Lucille dies in the winter according to 1 of your later books she still live when Sharpe says is completely lonely? Here is 1 with Sharpe foe during Sharpe regiment and Sharpe justice why is he pushing for Sharpe sent to command a convict guard in Australia i would love to know happens them this with same book when Lawford offers him a rifle battalion the wars in USA? Sorry I have to ask this question does Sharpe threat to Lawford about Girwood ever bear fruit when he has a break down right the end of Sharpe regiment actually bear fruit? Was he ever arrest charge for his business at fowl ness ? The best book you wrote was Sharpe Regiment and tiger and company and enemy. Here is my last question well hakeswill was captured was he tried for murder of Lawford uncle?

Alexander White

A

I have never said when - or how - Sharpe dies.

'Sharpe's Challenge' is loosely based on Sharpe's Tiger and Sharpe's Fortress I believe, loosely being the operative word here.

Lucille is alive! I have no control over the TV scripts - so you can ignore any developments that are not in the books!

Q

Good after noon Mr. Cornwell; I have to tell you how much I enjoy the stories from the Arthur series to the thrillers. There have been time when I turned out my light around 0500 just a few hours before I get up and sometimes keep reading until it is time for mew to go to the Senior Center for the county i live in. I have found a great deal of joy in reading the books you have authored. For the record I have read some of the Sharpe series, Stonehenge, Grail Quest, the Arthur series and I am now finishing up the Saxon Stories. My question to you is What are you going to write on next? It appear that you write the best stories from the time period of the 11th century. Please keep up the good work. I am waiting for you next book. I like what You write, David Mortensen

A

I write one book at a time, so I really won't know what's next until I finish this one (next book of the Saxon stories)!

Q

Dear Mr Cornwell, I thorough enjoyed the 'Gallows Thief' and was wondering whether you were considering writing more on Rider Sandman? Regards, Paul

A

I've given it some thought, but I'm not sure it will happen....maybe?

Q
