“The curse of being wise is that nobody listens.” (author: me) A perfect example of this is in trying to convey the wisdom in “The Burning Land”, bottom of p. 177, top of p. 178. Bravo, Mr. Cornwell! Try reaching out to certain defenseless young bulls while their eyes are glazed over with the heady intoxication of testosterone…only an exercise in frustration and futility. The invisible mechanics of society deludes them further into thinking it is actually THE MAN who has “the power”. And love? Why, it should be deemed a controlled substance, where the use of it is unlawful without being prescribed by wiser men such as ourselves. I speak as a fifty year old man who has never been married, though there have been a few close calls. Whew!
