The Burning Land wow. what a book! what a story! once again Cornwell brings us back to ninth century England, and once again we are thrilled with Uhtred’s struggle between his oath to Alfred of Wessex and his love for the old gods. But once again he lands on the right side of history, and once again Cornwell puts all his readers right in the middle of it all. Like always the worst part of reading Cornwell’s stories is they finish and he leaves us hungry for more. Too bad they don’t use this type of medium to introduce our children to history. For myself, if that had been the case, my life would have been much different and richer in wisdom. Looking forward to the next story of Uhtred and his exploits, doing battle for a king he has no love for.
