Hello Mr Bernard Cornwell OBE! Have been meaning to write to you for ages just to thank you for such great books. Was introduced to them by a friend lending me your Arthur Trilogy this time last year and haven’t stopped reading your work (half the Sharpes, Grail Quest and my favourites the Saxon books) This was meant to be a short message to congratulate you on your OBE and ask what your thought were on the award? are you pleased? Thanks Again (please keep writing) Alex, Coventry

This is just a short note to congratulate you on your OBE. I don’t know what the citation is but in my mind it is thoroughly deserved for the way in which you have made aspects of British history so interesting and accessible. Keep up the good work. Regards Clive

Bernard many congrats on your recent OBE. (Well deserved). Best wishes. Martin Parfitt

Congratulations to you Bernard Cornwell OBE, well deserved I must say. I have been an avid reader for over ten years now and now consider the Duke of Wellington to be my main focus in non-fiction reading, thanks to your fantastic Sharpe series (and another on the way, I can’t wait!) At the moment I am half way through The Lords of The North, which I am glad to say is up to your usual high standard. Good Luck for the future, please don’t retire too soon!?! Phil Elwis, Yorkshireman living in Scotland!

Hi Bernard Just wanted to say congratulations on being awarded the OBE. A very well deserved honour! As well as being a fabulous author ( I can’t wait to get my hands on Sharpes’ Fury) I never ceased to be amazed at the kindness and patience you have towards all the people who send you e-mails. Fiona

Congrats on your OBE! Steve Root

Dear Bernard. Congratulations on being awarded the OBE! It is well deserved. We wish you continued good health, and look forward to many more books in the future. Wanda in Texas

I just saw you are to be awarded the OBE. I can’t think of a novelist who deserves it more, not just for the quality and volume of his work, but for his unfailing courtesy to fans and generosity to other writers. Congratulations. Dave McKissack

Many congratulations on being awarded an OBE. When the day comes to collect this much deserved award may your journey be swift and your day be long so that you can enjoy the event to the fullest. I guess to say “Fate is inexorable” is totally inappropriate today! Kindest regards Andrew Moore
