Mr Cornwell,
I am 38 pages from finishing Book 4 Sword Song and I enjoyed the coverage of Old Roman London. For the reasons why the Saxons refused to live in Roman London made a lot of sense to me that many of the Roman buildings continued to exist. What a lot of people do not know, moreover, is Rome’s structures around Palatine hill were still used particularly by the Byzantine Exarchs and that people were chosen there to maintain the palaces. What brought down many of the Roman structures was a major earthquake about 847 AD including the Caracalla baths. I’m anxious to know what happens to London in the succeeding volumes. I’m waiting for one of the Priest to destroy part of London.
