Mr. Cornwell,

On 8th September someone pointed out an “inconsistency” in your books about the fact that Osbert could not have learned Danish from his mother because she, in the opinion of that reader (referencing the 4th book), died giving birth to him.

This however, is not the case. The book in question is The Burning Land (the 5th in the series, not the fourth) and Osbert was 2 or 3 at the time. Gisela died giving birth to hers and Uhtred’s fourth child. Osbert therefore may have picked up at least something from Gisela, so your mistake is not so great or worth mentioning.

Anyway, I hope you have a good day. I am looking forward to The Empty Throne, thinking “October can’t come soon enough.”

Best wishes,

Gustav

Dear Mr. Cornwell

This isn’t really a question for you but a response to someone else’s question who said that Gisela couldn’t of taught Osbert/Uhtred danish because she died giving birth to him which isn’t true she died giving birth to their fourth child who also died. Thank you for the great books can’t wait til the empty throne comes out.

Tom
