I just wanted to tell you how much I enjoy your books. I became hooked on your novels when I picked up a copy of Agincourt when I discovered I had an ancestor who fought in that battle. As is probably true of most Americans with English ancestry, I knew virtually nothing about my ancestral homeland. Agincourt whet my appetite to discover what my ancestors might have experienced during the Middle Ages, so I began reading the Saxon Tales. During the course of reading about Alfred the Great, I discovered I had a very personal connection to the story in my family genealogy I was completely unaware of. One of my New England ancestors is a descendant of the Plantagenet King Henry I, a descendant of Alfred’s son Edward, as well as another ancestor who descends from Alfred’s youngest daughter, Aelfthryth. I am currently reading The Burning Land and am completely addicted to the adventures of Uhtred. Thank you again for “fleshing out” the people of this fascinating period and bringing them back to life for all of us!
