An excellent fast paced novel that's a weird mix of fantasy and historical fiction.This is Gentle's superb take on the Memoirs of Valenti Rocehfort a spy and Assasin for the Duc de Sully is framed for the murder of the king of France and sets off to try and prove his innocence - he is also being manipulated by an english mathmatician called Fludd.On the way he encounters a duellist called Dariole who he devolps an obssesion with and a Japanese Samurai who has his own agenda.
All in all this an excellent book and can be recommended to any fan of Sharpe will love this book.
