I saw Shōgun was here but, for me, Tai Pan is much more akin to Cornwell.
Based on the real story and people involved in the founding and early development of Hong Kong, the story centres around political and social intrigue and plenty of roguery. There are many striking similarities to Sharpe’s Trafalgar for instance, in which one might infer the odd head nod to Clavell.
