Simply a terrific history of the sword. Cohen touches on every subject, from details of dueling culture in France, Britain and Italy in the age of the Musketeer, to the role of thw sword in society, war and sport, the development of the various types of blades, schools of training, the German perchant for schlager fighting, Olympic scandals,....the list goes on. Highly readable, the book even includes a quote from Sharpe's Waterloo. Very recommended!
