This book is set in 13th C France and follows the life of Bridget, an ancestor of Mary Magdalene, whose unbroken female lineage has kept a legacy of wisdom alive for 1000 years.
As with all stories of this time, the all powerful Catholic church wants to destroy Bridget for using her supernatural abilities and healing qualities..
Probably sounds awful but it is a VERY compelling read and is almost as unputdownable as Dick Sharpe.
