This is a book about the 95th Rifles ! When I saw it was written by C S Forester I thought it was from the Hornblower series but was surprised to find out it was based on the true story of Rifleman Dodd who wound up behind the lines of the main French army during their Winter before the Lines Of Torres Vedras.
Rifleman Dodd has to survive on his own after being separated from his patrol due to an attack by a French Cavalry patrol. He joins some Portuguese partisans and shows then how a professional wages war. Dodd must realy on his training and skills of a Rifleman to survive and take the war to the French.
It's a great story and well told by one of the best.
