When I bought this book I expected a history of a British ship around WWI (I was into my WWI stage at that time). Instead, I was treated to something quite different and much more satisfying. This wonderful book covers the politics, and familial ties that set the stage for WWI. It begins several decades before with the histories of the 'major players' and the ways that they manipulated each other to realize their goals. I really enjoyed this book and was left wondering whether if one thing, one act, were different...there may not have been a WWI at all.
